For starters, the customer service is amazing. My package was lost by UPS and Mike was fast to reply when I messaged about it, even calling the distribution center multiple times to helpbfind it. They sent me a replacement immediatly upon seeing the package was lost. The wheel itself is very nice and very much worth the price. I chose to do some wood burning on mine before staining and it went very well.Assembly is pretty straitforward and Ashford has a video on youtube with step by step instructions. This is my first wheel and my first time ever using one, so with only 24 hrs of use im pretty much a newb. I was able to spin some really fine singles on it as pictured.I might come back and update this review after i have finished a few projects.

The recipient says it was fun to assemble. The pieces fit together well. And it spun smoothly. She has already spun some beautiful yarn.

I am new to spinning; this is my first spinning wheel. My considerations were first, cost, second, compactness (I have very little room in my house). Boy, did I luck out. First, there are several folks at Ashford who care a lot about the assembly process. The instructions are clear, well thought out, and straightforward. The manufacturing team took great care in the fit and placement - all the pilot holes are in the right place, all the assembly bolts are easy to get to, and everything just kind of falls together. After assembly, the wheel is pretty much bombproof - the joints are solid and seem determined to stay that way. The period of time between opening the box and having a spinning wheel sitting in my living room was an education in how a high-quality product, produced by high-quality folks, can be a true joy to put together. So how does it work? Well, I am teaching myself how to spin, so there is a learning curve. However, this learning curve is fairly short: it doesn't take very long to get the hang of treadling, drafting, and generally keeping track of all the mechanics of turning fiber into yarn. The more I use this wheel, the more fun I have. Oh.. if you are looking for a spinning wheel as decor for a 17th century farmhouse, keep looking. If you want a sturdy, fun wheel to make yarn, well, I expect to use mine for many years to come .I recommend it without reservation.

Excellent first wheel for myself. I sanded, stained and assembled it in 4-5 hours (had to wait for stain to dry). I was able to read and follow the assembly instructions without much trouble. It shipped very quickly from the seller (I paid the extra $13) and I got it the next day!It does squeek, and I haven't been able to make it stop despite lots of oiling. I think it's coming from the right treadle attachment when it used a plastic piece. I'll try Vaseline later.Back aches after a while, so I need to pay attention to posture and maybe think about a chair? But I attribute that to being a new spinster and not really knowing what I'm doing yet.Appreciated the sample wool from Ashford and generally love the wheel! Also love that it can fold!Edit 5/25/20: Be extra careful with lifting the wheel. I've broken the plastic rear bearing that the bobbin sits in. Thankfully the Woolery sells a replacement for $5+shipping. Still love the wheel and have made some pleasant yarns.

This spinning wheel is easy to use and it spins smoothly. The only thing I wish I had known before buying it is that it doesn’t fit the Ashford jumbo flyers. If you want to use a larger bobbin you would have to buy a special flyer for the kiwi that comes with a base, which you would need to assemble and dissemble each time you want to use it. The jumbo flyer that works for the other Ashford wheels is about $100. The kiwi jumbo flyer is over $300.
