I bought one of those beach cabanas that is stabilized by four legs filled with beach sand. This worked perfectly to fill each leg with sand...and it's sturdy enough for the grandkids to dig with it too.

If you use a metal detector, you need one of these. It's tough plastic and plastic does not set off your detector. So, you dig and wave your scoop over the detector and if the target/object is in there, the detector sounds off.

Took it out 3hrs detecting in hard crusty desert conditions and this scoop worked like a charm! While the sticker is fading fast, I had no issues at all as it kept it's edge and is light weight. Fits in the tool pouch very well and being all plastic, my detector does not know it's there. Big thumbs up!

These are pretty good scoops.. gave them to the kids at the beach... they worked them hard in wet, ocean beach sand. Held up nicely.

Works great to recover targets. Good volume to speed up locating, and to reduce by halving. Fits in the back pocket. Sturdy enough for light digging, but normally just using it to scoop loose material dug from the hole. Works much better than my older plastic garden type trowels that I used for years, do to the extra volume and curved bottom. In a pinch, I think you could use an a miners horn (pan) for testing small quantities of placer material.

Because this Scoop is made of a very thick high quality plastic, it is an excellent scoop for gravel and can be motioned over a Gold Detector when checking for Gold Nuggets. Best Price on Amazon too!
