Worked the first time, then never again. I used it for gas so threw it away instead of sending back. The idea is good and functional for first use, but wish I had spent more money because I ended up with a mouth full of gas when this wouldn't work and still have no pump.

Purchased this as a TOY for kids to play. Hooked to a rain barrel. It is a bit hard for kids to pump water. Takes some time to pull water into the pump. Water has some "oily" smell from the lube in the device.I wish I bought the regular water spout made of iron.The product would work well for industrial use... not so good as a toy.The pump came FAST and as described from seller.

used in a fleet shop for a 55 gallon drum of washer fluid, pumps easily and has a good amount of flow, build quality seems good, but its all plastic. so as it being all plastic, i take a little care to hold the pump while cranking on the handle to not snap the housing off the stem**update 11/14/12**Of course other people are careless and now one of the bunghole adapters set screw broke, its all plastic and cant take to much carelessness, but the pump is still workingupdate 1/29/14 when the fluid is low in the 55 gal drum, it takes alot of cranking to get the pump to flow, it looses it prime easily. some sort of internal check valve would help that, but needless to say we are not using this pump anymore.

This is a good, well made siphon pump that is well made and sold at a good price. Well worth the price.

I searched everywhere for a good pump for drinkable water to go with my water barrels, and I decided to try this one. It turned out to be a really good idea. This pump is fantastic.First of all, it is not made of plastic. It is glass-filled propylene. There are glass beads and glass powder mixed together with the plastic part to form a new material with new properties. This material is as sturdy as aluminum but does not get corroded or rusted like metal does. Indeed, this pump is rated for both water-based and petroleum-based fluids.Second, you can really crank this pump and get a high flow out of it. I can drain a 30 gallons barrel in 5 minutes. This is very fast.Third, in the picture you can only see a one-foot suction extension , but the pump is actually shipped with 3 extensions and also with a restrainer to fit the bottom of the extension and filter the incoming water. So, it is really easy to adapt this pump to most barrels and most uses.Finally, the pump weights 7 pounds, it is solid, and very well built and finished.It is hard to imagine a better hand pump than this one.

Based on the other reviews and the description this should have been a good pump for diesel fuel. I bought it January 2013 and pumped two tanks (12 gal.ea.) of fuel in my tractor and today (June 2013) it would not pump. I don't know what's wrong with it and I don't care, it does not work. I would recomend looking else where for a fuel pump.

This pump worked great for a few days. After that I had to turn the crank super fast to get it to start pulling water and finally it stopped pumping at all. My husband took it apart and then put it back together again. It worked briefly after that but then didn't work again the next day. Don't waste your money on this thing.

This pump is made to withstand time. It is made of high quality materials and comes with fitting for installation on a drum or barrel. One recommendation I would like to make is to have the pump come with some 1" ID vynol tubing.
