I stained mine for a little different look and it worked out well. This is a really versatile home decor piece. I have made centerpieces on it for all 4 seasons. It is big enough to be the base of a centerpiece on a dining room table or mantel. Possibly too big for a small/medium coffee table. It is stable too, it does not rock around. It is wide enough to put candles on and have some depth rather than just. a linear arrangement.

I wanted to have a bunch of different candles on my patio convo set table but when they were just sitting there loosely they looked unorganized and kinda dumb. I ordered this and put all my candles on it (in containers, different sized, shapes and colors) and it really pulled it together. Now it looks purposeful and cute. The wood is very lightweight but for my purposes it's been great! Ignore the extra stuff on the table in the image and imagine it without that....

no installation needed large counter decor, i would say candles, rocks, or a 2-3 piece set. sturdy board can also be stained or painted to the color of your choice with no problem. craftsmanship is just ok
