The Authentic Genuine Nagoya NA-771G 15.3-Inch Whip GMRS Antenna is a fantastic upgrade for anyone looking to improve the range and clarity of their GMRS radio communications. With its 15.3-inch length and SMA-Female connector, this antenna is purpose-built for 462MHz, offering enhanced performance in both urban and rural settings. Here’s why this antenna has exceeded my expectations for GMRS applications.Impressive Range ImprovementSwitching to the NA-771G immediately extended my radio’s range, allowing me to communicate over longer distances with clearer reception. This is especially valuable in areas with obstacles, like dense trees or urban structures, where standard antennas often fall short. The extra length and optimized tuning make a noticeable difference in signal strength, enabling reliable communication even when separated by significant distances or challenging terrain.Tuned Specifically for GMRS (462MHz)Unlike general-purpose antennas, the NA-771G is tuned specifically for GMRS frequencies, around 462MHz, which ensures efficient and focused performance on this band. This optimized tuning means I get the best possible clarity and range without interference, which is essential for staying connected on outdoor adventures, emergency communications, or even community events where GMRS is widely used.Durable and Flexible Whip DesignAt 15.3 inches, this antenna strikes an excellent balance between durability and flexibility. The whip design is sturdy enough to withstand regular use, while the flexible construction prevents it from snapping or bending out of shape when it comes into contact with objects. I’ve found it convenient to carry and use on portable radios, knowing it can handle a bit of wear and tear without compromising on performance.SMA-Female Connector CompatibilityThis antenna comes with an SMA-Female connector, making it compatible with many popular GMRS handheld radios. The fit is secure and straightforward to attach, providing a snug connection that won’t loosen or detach easily during use. I’ve paired it with a few different models, and it integrates seamlessly each time, allowing quick installation and dependable use.Lightweight and PortableDespite its length, the NA-771G is lightweight, making it comfortable to use on handheld radios without adding significant bulk. It’s perfect for carrying on hikes, in vehicles, or while exploring, and doesn’t interfere with the radio’s portability. This makes it ideal for fieldwork and outdoor adventures where every ounce counts.Ideal for Various ApplicationsThe NA-771G is incredibly versatile, suitable for a variety of GMRS applications, including recreational use, emergency preparedness, and group communication in remote areas. It provides dependable, boosted performance without requiring a complex setup, making it a fantastic upgrade for anyone relying on GMRS for clear, extended-range communication. In summary, the Nagoya NA-771G 15.3-Inch Whip GMRS Antenna is a top-quality, purpose-built antenna that significantly enhances range and clarity for GMRS radios. With its durable design, specific tuning for 462MHz, and easy compatibility, this antenna is a valuable addition for both casual and serious users. Highly recommended for anyone looking to maximize their GMRS radio performance!

The stock antenna on the Tidradio TD-H3 really isn’t terrible for a stock antenna on a budget radio but it didn’t stop me from wanting to experiment with other options. This 701G seemed like a good option to try based on its size and reputation. I tamed my expectations as antenna performance can vary quite a bit between radios and environments but I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance in an urban environment for such a small 1/4 wave. Swapping back and forth between the 701G and the stock antenna, I am currently getting better reception and better reach to repeaters in the area. There is also the benefit that the 701G is extremely flexible and more comfortable to carry if having the radio on your hip. The small form factor of the antenna also matches well with a radio as small as the TD-H3. I’m sure I could get even better performance with the larger 771G but an antenna that long just really isn’t practical for a lot of every day use. It was definitely worth the cost of the upgrade.

I have many TD-H3 GMRS radios and wanted to try some different antennas. The OEM antenna works but is lacking. The Smiley antenna is a short antenna, about 4 inches. They spec it as a 5/8th wave which usually means it'll work in conditions with trees and buildings better than a 1/4 wave would.I have 3 different antennas I use on the regular. The OEM, the Smiley and the Nagoya 771G. The OEM is about 7.25" and works OK. You can't expect much of an antenna to come with a $35 radio. I get about .9 miles when I use my small repeater with a mobile setup which is low to the ground and in a very cluttered environment. The Nagoya 771G antenna is 15" tall so it's very long. It's not convenient for carrying the radio with you because of it's length. But it goes even farther than the Smiley. I was able to get 1.8 miles and it still hadn't quit but I didn't go farther. It wasn't going to go much more anyway. The Smiley in the same conditions gets out to 1.5 miles where it quits abruptly. It's a very convenient antenna because it's small and has a decent range. So the best of each world of small size and distance would go to the Smiley. If you need the distance you have to take what you can get with convenience or not. So that would be the 771G. It out distances the most all antennas out there.

I have now purchased 5 of these, they are paired to GMRS radios and I have had no issues with them. From a 8w HT I am able to hit a repeater approx. 25 miles away. I am on higher ground and within good line of sight of the repeater. If your looking for a budget friendly GMRS antenna this is the way to go.

Installed these on a set of Wouxun KG-UV86 of 2M / HAM radios. Used GMRS frequencies and immediately notified a massive increase in clarity and range.

I've tried what seems like a ridiculous number of antennas on my handhelds and for GMRS purposes, the Nagoya NA-701C is my favorite. Even being a shorter antenna, you can tell it is tuned properly as with this antenna installed I can hit a repeater that's 14 air miles away that I couldnt reliably hit before, even when lying in bed. Previously the best results I had was with the 15.3" GMRS antenna from Abbree. I can also talk simplex with a friend just over 2 miles away in a hilly suburban area. I could only do that before if I was upstairs near a window. So, while I dont have expensive equipment to give a "scientific" analysis, the antenna's performance speaks for itself. If yuu need a great shorter GMRS antenna, buy one, you wont regret it.

I got 2 of these 771G’s for my pair of UV-5R’s coded to GMRS frequencies. I’ve been using them frequently for the past few weeks, I can say right off the bat they are exponentially better than the standard rubber ducky antennas. Since they are tuned for GMRS you are able to get a much clearer reception and transmission on those frequencies despite urban obstacles or interference. My brother and I tested the range in a relatively dense urban area. 1 unit in the second floor of a house and the other on a bike. The stock antennas became unreadable at about 1km. As soon as we switched antennas there was a noticeable difference. At 2km we were able to have a clear conversation at 5W power. While moving, reception is hard. Which is understandable because I am moving in between buildings and busy streets. At 4.5km at 2W, 5W and 8W power we were able to still have a clear conversation after a bit of fishing (me in the middle of a parking lot finding signal and my brother sticking his torso out a 2 story window). And finally at 5km at 8W power reception was still somewhat audible with a lot of signal fishing. At this distance, a single building would have completely blocked signal reception and transmission. We were able to receive the tone of the roger beep at 5.3km but there was too much urban obstruction to get understand what was being said (it was just static). This is really good performance for an antenna, at the 1km mark we had 0 line of sight, and still having decent reception at 4-5km with no line of sight through urban terrain is beyond impressive. Note, performance is directly affected by your surroundings, product performance will vary.

When you only need GMRS, why using dual or triple band antenna that give so so results.

I'm cautioned to make sure it's a GENUINE Nagoya, and this is the real thing. Reception on the GMRS band is greatly improved with the proper antenna. A very good buy.

Price was okay, quality seems decent, over double the reception of the rubber ducky that came with my handheld unit.I am waiting to get my Nano VNA to get the actual numbers and I will update soon after.
