I got the 3/4 weight black reel, and am very satisfied. I got it to accompany the Aventik 3/2 weight whisperer rod and they go together well. Let's face it, for less than $30 you get a nice quality reel with preloded backing, line and leader.I just tried it out in my back yard and easily did 30-40 foot casts. I normally use it in mountain streams in Colorado or spring creeks in Wisconsin and most of the time, I'm doing a roll cast because if the trees and other stuff that will trap my flies. People have mentioned that the line is not good, but it seems ok to me. Again, if I'm keeping the line out of the water to catch a wary rainbow or brookie, I'm not putting out 60 feet of line or usually even 30 feet. Of course, this is much more important if you are putting out a lot of line but it's set for smaller trout. I also read some comments on the drag and to be honest, I don't think I've ever used the drag on this weight line or reel. You're pulling in a 12 inch trout if you are lucky and just bring in the line. If you are fumbling with the drag, then you are likely to lose the fish, so it's not something that's important to me. The drag seems to work, but as I said, I'm not going to use it.I thought this was a large arbor reel, and I don't really think it is. It doesn't say large arbor anywhere in the description but several reviewers mentioned large arbor. Again, that's important for a 5-6 weight reel, but not really for this size. The reel is well made and there are loops on the line and leader so it's fine with me and for this price range it's a real bargain. I have a couple of 5 weight rods and have misplaced the reels, so I'm going to order a 5/7 weight one for bass fishing. For around $30 it's a very good deal.

Bought this reel and line combo to pair with Aventik 3wt 6'6" rod. Its marked 3/5, but I would not use on a 5WT. I would look for a larger spool. But for a 3WT, the size seems appropriate.1st the line looks ok'ish. Leader loop is exposed, it appears the core may not be going thru the line. I did not see any marking for the WT. It is a WF line.Keeping in mind this should be a 3WT, breaking strength shouldn't really be a factor. It's heavy, 160 grams. It balances the 3WT 6'6" fiberglass rod well. It may not balance a graphite 3WT.It appears to be cast metal and powdercoated... Fall color combo is nice, it will fit in nicely working wild trout streams in the Smokey'sDrag feels good, clicker is suttle. When reeling in, there is no clicker, it pretty much a free spool when retrieving line.Spool handle feels like stiff rubber.I have not switched it to left hand cast/right hand retrieve yet.Overall for money with the line it's to hard beat. At this WT, IMHO the reel is just designed to hold line and will only see fresh water, in hindsight a lighter non-disk drag reel may have been a better option.

Not bad for the price. Reel is decent quality for the price. If your looking for billet quality look elsewhere but this definitely suits my needs and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

You get what you paid for. It's complete junk. Bought one to see if it's worth it. It's not. Drag sucks. Complicated system. Fly line is crap and hard to cast. It's just all around terrible. I'm a guide, I threw this away after a couple casts. It's not worth it. Spend a little more money.
