This set is very handy for repairing or chasing threads that may rusty or were damaged when removing a spindle nut. Given that a single higher quality die will cost the same amount as this set, the kit is of good value. The 3/8 driver adaptor allows easy interface to utilizing the die. Do not over force the die when chasing threads and use a good tapping oil when repairing the threads.

I have a set of thread repair files that sees regular use, and even (occasionally) get out the tap & die set to fix problem threads. However, those methods both remove significant material from the threads being repaired. That's not a risk I want to take with mission-critical threads on vital components. This mostly avoids that problem, by forcing the metal of the threads back into place using the hardened steel chasers. I used these to clean up the damaged spindle threads on an old CV axle. It took me less than two minutes, retained most of the original thread material, and left the threads clean and repaired such that I could set the axle nut spinning to put it back on.I am very pleased with the quality of these thread chasers. The hardened steel is really tough stuff. Each piece has size information stamped into the side, while the case also has size labels for reference. The case also has a metal hinge pin, so it should last pretty well.

not the highest level of finish, but the value equation is right. the threads are cut well and the tool worked for me. i needed to clean up the threads on my axles after removing them and the dies cleaned up the threads nicely. the rust was gone and they straightened the messed up threads at the end of the axle so the axle retaining nut screws on easily by hand. the included case is fine, some of the chasers don't fit as snugly as i'd like but it's a very small nit; while they could be better, overall i'm happy with these thread chasers.

This kit has a nice variety and will help in many situations. The dies are well built and solid. The case fits each piece firmly and keeps everything organized well.

I needed a larger rethread kit and this addressed the need. Works well and cleans up messed up threads.
