I really like how this mute sounds. Others are sticklers for the metal mutes. Good on them.Another bonus: this is very light weight so I am never worried about it falling out while playing.

Trombone music rarely calls for a straight mute which makes a $20 mute all that much more attractive. But you get what you pay for. The sound is acceptable but a couple of rough days at band camp was all it took to split this mute in two.

Used it in a bandstand concert a couple of weeks ago, and it worked well. Haven't tried it with jazz yet, so no opinion there. The plastic is a little on the fragile side though, compared to metal, so it won't take a lot of knocking around.

It works will but the base is rather large and hard to put in and take out because of the diameter.
