I am just a beginner on the trumpet. My trumpet came with a 7C mouthpiece, and I was struggling.. with everything. The mouthpiece numbers work as follows: Larger number = larger cup = better tone to some degree, and lesser letters = deeper cup.So, with this mouthpiece - I still struggle but at least the sound is better and the low notes easier. The deeper cup helps with getting a nice resonance. I saw an advert for a different mouthpiece that will solve all problems. That's probably not true. But sounding more clear and resonant is more motivating for practice ... and this mouthpiece also feels nice.
