I had a cake tester (a longer one) that the cover for it fell off and disappeared years ago. I wanted a new one with a cover so that the tester doesn't get dirty while sitting in a drawer. I really like it.

I have had cake testers in the past but they lived in a drawer. When I took them out I always needed to wash them and sometimes they got bent. This is the perfect tool for that problem. The case keeps the tester clean and straight.

I guess this is pretty low tech, and it does the job just fine. But it seems poorly made, and it’s always a struggle to get it back in its little case. I had one that looked almost identical, though it was the brand name (Wilton), and it was higher quality for just a couple of bucks more. I think I’d opt for the name brand next time.
