This made other crossbows I've used seem like toys.

Nice bow for the price I hope the limbs don't explode or the strings snap like the other reviews, only time will tell. Easy to put together pretty simple to use and was on paper out of the box, a little tweaking to the scope and I was on target @ 10 yards

I am an older beginner and this was the first crossbow I bought, but I have tested and used others. Not too heavy and well built. I also bought a SKYD Hunt crossbow case which I highly recommend and all of this was not too heavy when walking 1/2-1 mile to a blind. The crossbow was sturdy and shooting was smooth and not too much recoil. Accuracy was great but the scope seems cheap and a better one should have been part of the build. The main issue I had is the string broke on the second time I shot a deer. Makes you feel miserable with a new bow and a great shot! The only other shooting was zeroing the scope and a few practice shots so it was not used extensively. Then I called Barnett and they had no strings in stock and no other sellers had string or cables for the 400XTR. The string length is not found online or on the Barnett website and the rep had to tell me the length over the phone. Luckily J & D Custom Strings can make them in a day. 32.75 in. string and 14.875 in. cables (2) FYI.

Took 8 shots and the string jumped off the bow. Not what you expect from a new crossbow. Disappointed.

Bow is fast and accurate but is a beast to rope cock. I'm short and fat (5'4" - 200lbs) and after sighting in I'm left with a 4" wide deep bruise on my belly from cocking the bow. Maybe removing the sling mount would help, but it's still a beast. I'll be purchasing a CCD next.
