This natural process leaves the wood with some imperfections that result in adding up the authentic character. I love this ladder. I like that it is wider than most blanket ladders and I love the weather color of the wood. This wood is for real reclaimed wood so it is a little splintery and rustic. You can tell that this is not faux reclaimed wood, this wood has nail holes and stains and all the things that real reclaimed wood comes with. Some people don't like that, but I personally love it. It has lots of character and charm and does not have the mass produced look of something you'd find in a store.

Used this the ladder horizontally above our bed and hung a wreath on it. Color was good, ladder was sturdy as a décor item (I don't think there is any expectation that it is a functional ladder). No assembly needed - which was great!. It was appropriately rustic with all the reclaimed features (so you might need to pick off some splintered bits). Only thing to mention is that the ends (the part that would touch floor) are not finished where the wood length was cut. I touched it up with a little craft paint using a dry brush technique and you would never know. If you are using it vertically, this would not show. Very happy with this purchase!

I gave this product a 4 not a 5 because the ladder had splinters and it was dirty like it had just been made. Im not saying its a bad ladder, its thick and sturdy but the cleanliness was not there. If you dont care to take some sanding paper to it then its not a problem. I love the fact that its pretty long and not short where it looks awkward. Went very well with my decor

I returned this ladder due to it having a million splinters and rough pieces of wood coming off. Just removing it from the box gave me splinters. It is sturdy enough but it would shred a blanket the minute you tried to pull it off. They stained only the front side which makes no sense. I was going to gift it to my daughter but it was just too "rustic". Its like they pulled the pieces out of barn and just slapped them together. DO NOT PURCHASE!!

Having lived in the country, now in the city, I was weirded out by paying for an old wood ladder that I could have thrown together with stuff on my dad's property. But alas, we can't all be living in the woods. I don't regret it, the price is reasonable for what turned out to be a very sturdy piece. It made a nice addition as a blanket rack for my rustic guest room. And I cannot stress enough that there is no assembly! I also like that it's reclaimed wood, therefore less wasteful.

This ladder does its job, but only aesthetically pleasing if looking direct on...certainly made of barn wood as described, but the sides and slats were ripped from larger pieces and therefore the barnwood aesthetics aren't there when viewing from the back or sides. In addition, the rungs were assembled to the sides using multiple means, and not a single method (from the side you can view silver headed nails and black headed screws, with none of the rungs attached the same). Just not a detailed or professional assembly.
