I get a clothing allowance for work - Law Enforcement. I've been buying these boots for many years. I do need to add an insert (but I do that with all my shoes) but they feel great and last. Best of all they are priced very reasonable. They also take a nice shine from shoe polish.

This is my 4th pair of Bates Boots and they have all been great. They fit true to size, have a great open toe box, and having the zip up side makes them much easier to get on and off. They only shoes more comfortable are tennis shoes.

My second pair. I wore the first out. These are lightweight boots. Very comfortable to walk in. Sturdy enough for use on my Harley. They aren't for cold weather use on bike. I have heavy boots for under 50 degrees. I will buy another pair when I these wear out.

They fit great and feel just as great. Don’t let the 4 stars fool you, if I could give it a 4.5 I absolutely would. The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 is because there is a part on the inside by the ankle where is it a tad uncomfortable but it’s definitely because I haven’t broken them in yet. Great buy!

These boots have zippers which does make them quicker to put on and take off, but it's also where I've had the failure in older pairs - I've been through 4 or 5 pairs in the last decade or so - I'm not complaining exactly but when they do die, its usually the zipper that goes - there's a reason why military boots don't use zippers - they are much more prone to failure - but if you need a decent pair of tactical style boots that have a bit more comfort and padding than your standard issue combat boots.. .these are great

These boots are okay, lasted about 4 months then the leather started to separate from the rest of the boot. There’s not super comfortable and do crease very easily in the toe. Decent quality and look but there are definitely higher quality tactical boot options.

Bought these for my partner and he loved them. Said they were the comfiest boots he’d worn. We walked for about 7 hours in rugged terrain in them and he said these boots kept his feet from hurting like they normally do in regular boots. He even had a sore on his heel at the time and said these boots helped to not make it worse because of the comfort and support they gave.

These are the worse pair of boots I’ve owned in 17 years of wearing boots for work. First time I’ve tried Bates and I’ll never buy another pair. The insert is shaped weird and is uncomfortable on my feet and for some reason no matter how I adjust the laces the right boot digs into the top of my big toe every time I walk to the point of causing constant redness. I thought they’d break in or I could make lace adjustments but I’ve finally had it today and am calling these crap. Waste of money and unfortunately I’m beyond the return window so I’m stuck with this. Do yourself a favor and avoid these.

A little disappointed with the faulty bootlace however the overall construction of the boot is well made.The leather is soft enough to be used immediately. Mainly using this for urban environments.It is also lighter than the Magnum Spartan Jungle XTB.Will be monitoring its wear after 6 months of use.

I wear a 4E shoe and these are truly 4E. They are light and super comfortable. Only bought because all the other reviews said the same and it's true. No rips or anything after 3 months of wear, but only wearing 1-2x a week. Will definitely buy again hopefully not for a long time.
