This is a good value for a nice quality, small, hand powered, non battery powered (no power source or electrical read out) battery acid hydrometer tester that tests a good range of battery voltages (6-24V) and is easy to use and read.Be sure this will work with your style and type of battery. It’s rated for batteries of: 6V, 12V, 24V. It measures electrolyte gravity in your battery acid. The readout has 3 levels that are color coded and have a numerical range (see the listing pictures for the chart). It will show one of 3 levels: requires charging, sufficient, very good.Always use proper safety when using it. No safety equipment is included with it. I would always want proper eye and skin protection with safety glasses and properly rated gloves. Be sure you handle this carefully after using it as you don’t want to get any battery acid on yourself, your vehicle or anywhere else. Be sure you know how to properly use this and keep it away from little ones when you put it away.Note that there are some instructions on the back of the carton that you may want to save. There are also some use instructions and tips in the listing details and pictures you may also want to view, save or print. Note that no storage case or bag is included with it.

is ok for the price, but the plastic pipe was twisted so much for a long time that it was closed. and seems to be a little fragile

Total piece of junk. Looked like it was glued together as an elementary school science fair project. The float in the tester never moved when filled with the battery electrolyte solution. Bought a better one and it works fine. Do not buy.

Sometimes you just need to go back to the basics. I have electronic battery testers but the one thing they can't tell is if one cell has gone bad. If a cell has gone bad that's a different repair than just being low on voltage or reserve. This measures the strength of each of the battery's cells with a dial pointer. Simple as can be. Easy to see if the cell is good or failed. I don't beleive that this will last as long as my older tester which used floating balls to measure the cell. The housing and bulb feel like they'll tolerate the acid at least for a while.Flooded lead-acid batteries are getting replaced by more maintenance-free types, but anyone with a golf cart, boat or RV should have this available for testing all those batteries.

I tried this out today on a battery that was about 4 years old and I knew it had been sitting for a while and wasn't in the best condition. The reading was somewhat in the middle which seemed pretty close. I also liked being able to use it to transfer from cell to cell when doing flooded lead acid battery restorations. There was no leaks while I was using it, although some battery acid can come out of the tube when you're doing using it, so keep this in mind, remembering to tilt the hose to remove any remnants.

Nope - absolutely negative 2. Does not work. Showed nothing on my fully charged batteries - I grabbed a real hydrometer, it showed my batteries @ a moderate sulfuric solution. I got out a known 93 percent solution and mixed to 30 percent - my real hydrometer confirmed. This piece of plastic showed nothing. I would imagine this is an example of poor quality control. Poor quality control is inexcusable for some stuff. Hydrometers would be in that category. I suggest spending the nickle more and getting the real hydrometer.2 Negative Stars~ Thanks for Reading - Have an Incredible Life! ~

I work on a farm where there are several different vehicles needing acid batteries. The "Autolumen Battery Hydrometer" works fantastically at telling me how good the battery acid is or if it needs to be replaced. This tool helps me keep my batteries in good shape, and helps me identify issues with batteries too.Would recommend.

It feels kind of cheap, and the picture show them using it to measure coolant but the scale is wrong.
