They are perfect for what I had in mind. Difficult to open the first time, if you have arthritis in your hands like I do, you might have someone else open the first time. I used pliers.

I have a daily calendar and like to use the expired ones as memo pages.Well, my desk and table were getting unsightly with all of these notes, memos & ideas and I needed a way to tie them together but still be easily accessible.Found these book rings and they work exactly as I intended. Using a 1/4 inch hole punch, I punch a hole in the corner of my memo pages and then "ring" them up accordingly to category.BUT... as other reviewers have noted, these are DIFFICULT to open and use for the very first time.I was super cautious and used 2 needle-nosed pliers to un-clasp and work them back and forth to loosen up the pivot point. Most of them loosened up nicely but the clasp area is still super tight/snug.Just be careful and you'll be ok.If you have dexterity issues, have someone else open/loosen them up for you. There's no shame in that and definitely not worth the trip to the ER if you slip and hurt yourself.

I use the larger binder ringsto hold my embroidery floss drops in color families. When I find the right color for my project I put them all on these smaller rings. Then I put everything in my project bag(s) . I can keep all my su[plies in small portable bags and just grab onewhen I want a portable project with everythingI need.

Reviewing these here because these are just so hard to open. In my batch, I had two that had sharp latches, and all but one have a really tight hinge. It's definitely a problem if you have carpal tunnel or some other issue where straining your hands will cause you aches and pains in your wrists and arms. If you have any kind of problem like that you'll want someone to open them for you the first time or maybe use some needle-nose pliers to help.Once I did get the rings open, I was able to loosen the hinges by opening and closing a few times. After that, they work as you'd expect and they do the job just fine. I don't think there's any quality issue at all in terms of them doing the job they are supposed to do.I'll keep them because they are working but would not buy again. I'm giving them 3 stars rather than 5 because they were stupid hard to open. The picture shows the ring holding 80 pieces of 8.5x11 20lb paper.
