This is 4.5 stars rounded upward to 5. I ordered these for use in the kitchen. In addition to being efficient at protecting my hands, even when I grasp the hot oven rack and then pick up a heavy dish from inside the oven. But for me, the best thing is that these gloves are not made for the Jolly Green Giant. My hands are about average size for a Boomer female, and slightly smaller than average compared to all other female adults in the U.S. It's amazing how many kitchen gloves are not only too large, but so large as to be unsafe, even though manufacturers claim they are sized Small to Medium for women. Whereas I am confident that the fingertips would stretch to accommodate hands a bit larger than mine, I can use them to pick up fairly small items; there isn't the all-too-common issue of dealing with an inch or more of fingertip glove flopping around at the end of the glove. So I call this a definite win.I have not tried to wash them, but from previous gloves I've owned, I think they will be fine in the washing machine on cold, and then air dry.The missing half star is because these are promoted as being safe to barbecue. I disagree. Silicone gloves are far safer for that task. If I need to handle the barbecue rack while it's hot, or pick up a glowing coal accidentally ejected from the barbecue--not a usual occurrence, but it's been known to happen--these fabric gloves are not going to do the job. Also, since it's the silicone-like design that is raised above the fabric that makes them heatproof, I feel pretty confident that these gloves wouldn't be safe once they're wet. I have a lot of faith in them as heatproof kitchen gloves, but very little faith in them as bbq gloves.

We had a pair of oven gloves for years. We call them our Mickey Mouse Hands because they are white. These are great with the little nubbies to hold the hot dish. We have the large silicone mitten types, but they are clumsy, and it is hard to hold a small hot object. I have small hands and they fit great.

Easier to use. More dexterity.

I was not sure about using these gloves instead of the traditional oven mitts but now that I have I don't think I will ever go back. I feel much safer and protected with a glove that can not fall off my hand and more secure handling hot heavy dishes right out of the oven.

I use the gloves to remove handmade pottery from my kiln. For most gloves I am a small, so these are a tad roomy, but not too bad considering my limited use.

I use them while working in a school kitchen, they work really well for taking hot pans of food out of the oven, gloves fit everyone, great grip and protect our hands from the heat.

First off I want to say I have experience using gloves actually rated for heat protection way over 1000F and these gloves are not even getting close to what they advertise. But judging off of the picture I knew these weren’t going to provide much protection in the 900F range before I got them.I bake bread and just needed something with good dexterity to handle my dutch oven that is rarely over 500F. I burned my fingers putting the hot dutch oven back in the oven and almost dropped the bread.Beware if you are doing a similar task.
