I bought the Bearing Buddy Spindle Seal Kit because I had a serious grease leak on one of my kayak trailer's wheel bearing seals. The trailer's wheel spindle had a rough surface caused by a poor welding job. The installation was pretty simple. I did have to file the slots in the castle nut a little deeper so the cotter pin would fit, but that was easy and simple. The Bearing Buddy Spindle Seal completely solved the grease leak on my boat trailer's wheel bearing. This is a good product. Thumbs up!!!

I installed these and fought the common issue with the cotter pin. They worked for 1 season, 10 - 12 launches , then leaked terribly. Both hubs were filled with water even after multiple repackings they just don't seal.

Nothing wrong with product but would not work on my axel. The special seal race would not go on deep enough because of the way my axle was turned during the MFG process. This would not allow my hub assembly to slide on correctly. This was on a Yacht Club trailer (WC112). Damaged seal when removing.

I'm in the boat repair business and time to time I get a trailer in that needs bearing work. I have been using these seals and sleeves longer than Buddy Bearing has been selling them. They used to be sold under the name Spindo Seal.

When installed, the new seals pushed my hub out just enough where when I installed the nut it would not screw on enough for me to use the cotter pin. When I reread the directions I then noticed that it stated that on some spindles it would do that and you have to ether modify the nut or not use.I was able to slightly grind the nut where I could use the cotter pin. Other than that I seems to hold the grease in.

Use these seals and not the standard seals that come with bearing kits. Bearing Buddy parts are the best.

With this, I was able to reuse a spindle that was otherwise scrap, due to worn seal surface.

This works to repair a bad seal surface. The problem is that it pushes the hub out 3mm and you can't get the cotter pin in.You can go with a thinner washer. But the best I found was to tighten the nut. Make a mark where the cotter pin could go, remove it all and drill a new hole. Make sure its not I the same spot as the previous hole. That's the easiest and best way to do it.These do seal and solve the grease leaking out and water leaking issue on boat trailers. But it is a little bit of a head scratcher.I thought like all of you did that this was just a slightly larger seal and a sleeve and everything was normal. Well... ita not but the instructions do say it's for a hub designed for brakes. Maybe there's something different there?
