Maybe it was my fault and maybe it wasn't. I had cleaned it up before with water in the sink and a sponge not submerging but letting it get quite greasy. I did this because I never use it for sandwiches. I grill bacon, lamb shoulder chops, ground turkey and sausages so it gets more greasy. I put it away when cool and put it in a plastic rectangular tub and store in the refrigerator and use it every day. Water on a sponge works well unless it builds up. Then I took it to the sink and turn the water on slow and gently wiped it with a very wet sponge. I got away with this once but not the second time. It may not be the reason that it stopped heating after a year and a half because I got water on the regulator that someone else commented on here. So I have learned to clean my new one with a wet damp sponge after every use cleaning the sponge until it seems clean. No shock hazard that I have had with most other brand and lots of space on the grill and it will do 1 1/2 inch steak though it takes awhile. You can use the clamp on it to hold it snug for sandwiches. I never set my temperature beyond medium and just a little below on this new one because it wanted it to last a long time. My unit was reconditioned before and never looked used at all when I got it. My new one is not reconditioned. It seemed to have a temperature regulator so things did not get burned. I use a pot holder on top and CAP Barbell Black 5 lb Olympic Rubber Grip Plate on top of that available here on Amazon for thick meats or some variation. The coating on the surface of my Bella was in good shape after a year and a half on my old one. I did not use metal objects on the coating. I have changed my ways of caring for my product and hope this one will last longer with me cleaning properly after each use.

The Bella Panini Press is awesome! The model I got has the flexible lid so that it can raise up a bit for those thicker sandwiches. This Panini Press gets really hot -- really fast --- so the sandwiches are beautifully toasted a golden brown within just a couple minutes. Even the kids love these sandwiches. Easiest gadge I've ever owned...easy to use, a snap to clean, then tucks away on its side in the cabinet, so it only takes up about 3" of cabinet space for storage. (The handle locks in place so it doesn't flop open while stored on its side.) Great buy!

I bought this particular panini press due to the small size, which was important to me b/c I don't have alot of kitchen storage. It is perfect for 2 sandwiches. It has a great non-stick coating which is super easy to clean. I wipe it down with a wet paper towel. So far I have only used it on the highest heat setting and it works fast and produces perfectly crunchy sandwiches on the outside and warm, melted ingredients on the inside. It's also very attractive with its highly polished chrome exterior.My only negative points and the only reason I did not give it 5 stars: The plastic lock (which holds the top and bottom together for easier moving/storage) is difficult to latch and does not stay put. The plastic drip tray is a bit flimsy. And so far, in my experience, the heating light does not work properly. It stays on all of the time instead of indicating "ready". But that is not really a problem for me as I can tell when its hot (only takes a few minutes).I admit, this is my first panini maker. I read alot of reviews here on Amazon before choosing this one based soley on its size. And I seem to be the first to review this one. It was between this one and a George Foreman grill. And once I touched the GF grill in person at a store, I didn't like it. Trust me, this is a much better quality appliance and well worth the money! So overall, I would highly recommend it!

I have stopped using my toaster. It's big and messy. There are always bread crumbs under it. Who needs that? With the BELLA panini press, you don't have any issues with mess. It's super easy to clean and easy to store away when you're done using it.This has completely changed it up in the kitchen for me. My panini press not only makes beautiful grilled bread but I have also cooked a chicken breast in it and it was outstanding! The drip tray did it's job just spectacularly and clean up was a breeze. Get this. For yourself or someone you love. You will be so happy you did.

Using this today and reminded me that I purchased this in 2015!!! It is still going strong and I use this Panini Press weekly! Never have I have a small appliance that has lasted and worked this well!!! Just Saying! Thanks so much for such a great and lasting product!!

My panini press is really good, it's big, almost for 3 or 4 sandwichs at the same time. I can cook arepas, tortillas or waffles. After every cook I always clean it, you can stand it and save space in your storage.
