This is a really intriguing garment. With the mishmash of various features that somehow work together. But it could do with more information about the insulation and other materials used. And there are significant price disparities between colorways ($55 to $250, with reviewers being told that the value was about $170) which drastically alter the value discussion.Unlike a lot of puffy vests, this garment only has synthetic down insulation in the front, neck and in parts of the back. With the shoulders, sides, and tail made from a thin layer of non-insulated stretch nylon. Between the baffles you'll find laser cut holes. The intention seems to be thermal regulation and breathability. The nylon and vent holes prevent the garment from getting stuffy or clammy because it easily allows water vapor from sweat to freely passed through. Well also preventing you from overheating from all around insulation. This garments insulation won't be well suited for extreme cold, but accommodates a more versatile range of chilly weather. It's climbers cut which means you have a non-insulated drop tail protecting your seat which is a really nice quality of life feature in something I wish more outdoor rec garments implemented. It's cut is reminiscent of the excellent FirstSpear Windcheater. The fabric does appear to have some degree of DWR treatment and both the insulation panels and stretch nylon will bead water but the ventilation holes and lack of a hood make the support choice for wet weather. I did find that the vent holes are small enough that it didn't make that noticeable of a difference in windy the conditions. It's synthetic down so It's relatively lightweight and packs of quite small but can't compete with the weight or packability of a more premium synthetic or natural down garment. Pockets are fairly simplistic but well implemented. You have two zippered hand warmer style pockets at the front that form two vertical internal pockets. The pockets run underneath the insulation they do legitimately warm hands. The pockets are made up of a mesh so it will drain water. I wouldn't have minded a small chest pocket but the two hand warmer pockets are fine enough since the garment will likely be paired with another layer underneath it.I am disappointed that there doesn't seem to be any disclosure about the quality of nylon used or the type of synthetic down insulation? Is it Climashield? Permaloft? A cheap generic fill? The only thing known for certain is that it is synthetic. Though the lack of disclosure does just that it's not a high performance name brand installation. I like knowing more information about fabric and materials used because it not only allows me to better judge performance but it also allows me to estimate durability without destructive testing. I'm both an outdoor instructor and separately a working and competitive dog handler. Which are both very destructive on garments. I have concerns that the fabric isn't durable enough to withstand field conditions.Which brings us to price. I've checked Beretta's website for this garment as well as several dealers. Beretta only features a couple of colorways and has the higher $250+ price. Dealers carrying the garment have the higher price for the colorways that are offered on bread as website but are charging around $60 to $70 for other colorways. My suspicion is these are newer colorways where is the higher price ones are the older ones. The issue is what explains the price disparity? It suggests that corners were cut and materials are worse on the cheaper colorways. At the $250+ price point, the value isn't great. It's vastly overpriced for the quality of materials used, even if it were using premium insulation like Climashield APEX or Permaloft Gold. At the $170 price that is shown to reviewers (we get taxed on the on the price) the price would be fair if it was using the aforementioned name brand high performance insulation but would be overpriced if it was a generic fill. At the $55 to $70 that many of the colorways are selling for on Amazon and on some of the Beretta dealers sites the garment has much more value and versatility. I wouldn't recommend purchasing the garment for over $80 and only with the understanding of its ventilation.

This is a nice vest and all, and I get that it’s a more niche name brand, but $250 for just a plain black vest that doesn’t even have a heating element is a bit crazy in my opinion…The quality is pretty good, just not $250 good. The materials used are good quality and the zipper zips easily and doesn’t get stuck ever. The sizing is pretty spot on for a vest so I’m glad I went up a size bigger than my normal size (I went with my jacket size which I always get one size larger). All in all it’s a beautiful yet simple vest, albeit pricy.
