The price/performance of these drills is great. I have been using them for Lexan and aluminum, and they have been working exceptionally well in my CNC router. I have yet to destroy one, so I can't fully comment about durability, but in this soft stuff, I have cut in the neighborhood of 500 holes with one of the drills, and it's barely showing signs of wear. If you work in a professional machine shop, get tooling with a pedigree--it's not worth the risk to your income to both with cheap tooling. But if you are working in a home hobby shop, this seems to be an excellent option and has produced good results for me so far.

I did about 20 holes through 5/8's hardened steel with just one of these spotting drills before it dulled. I'd say I definitely got my money's worth. They are a beast!!

First use, went to center drill a piece of aluminum on the lathe and instantly chipped the flutes. Never had that happen with a spot drill before. Get what you pay for.

Found these 120º 1/4" solid carbide spotting drills here on Amazon which was way less expensive than MasterCarr. Boy was I disappointed.First time use... The tip shattered after getting about 60 thou (1/16") into center punched mild steel (Left bit in both photos). I didnt bother trying the second bit. Finished the spotting with a center drill.Returning asap.

I mainly use these to mark holes that are refined after CNC operations. works great and allows for hand drilled holes to be drilled accurately. still on my first one after 2 months of moderate use.
