Needed this to adapt my router for some smaller quarter inch shank router bits. It works exactly as expected. The fit is tight and holds the smaller bits safely. Highly recommended.

This collet fit my Porter Cable 6902 router perfectly. It has been a tried and true partner in my various adventures with routing. If you're looking for a new collet friend this may be the one for you!

this collet is slightly smaller that original and cannot be tightened to hold the router bit properly. i put a micrometer on it and it is maybe 2-3 hundreths smaller. personal injury can result as the bit can come out when the router is running.

I have used my Porter Cable 7518 Routers for many years, but I have only had the 1/2" collets that came with them. Recently I bought this 1/4" adapter, and it works perfect. I have quite a few 1/4" router bits that I use with my palm router, and now they are available to use on my Porter Cables. This was a good purchase that works perfectly.

This Big Horn (BH) collet fits and performs satisfactorily with my Porter Cable 7518 router motor. However, it is not an in-kind replacement of the OEM collet.Specifically, the BH collet is not a true spring or ER style collet. The BH collet has a single through-wall radial cut (or "slit") whereas the OEM collet has 3 or 4 slits. A collet's radial slits act as independent cantilevers, or "fingers", which aid in centering the collet in the taper, or bore, of the router motor's shaft. The more fingers a collet has the more likely it will self-center with reduced eccentricity or runout. To gain a better understanding of collet design Google "ER style collets" or "spring style collets".What you'll immediately notice about the BH collet is that no secondary wrenching action is needed to break the collet free of motor shaft bore, which in turn, releases your bit from the collet.Fortunately, machining of the BH collet's body taper is done with sufficient precision such that it does registers (self-center) accurately (at least with the PC 7518 motor). I have not used a dial indicator to determine actual runout, however tests with a new large diameter panel cutting bit found each carbide cutter running perfectly flush to a fixed straight edge. As well, this large (heavy) bit ran with no apparent vibration at 10,000 rpm.The open (untightened) BH collet does snuggly accept all of my 1/2" and 1/4" shank router bits. So, no issue in making up a secure and safe bit installation. Note, I purchased the 1/2" BH collet at Woodcraft (Sacramento), the 1/4" collet via Amazon.

Wasn't centered or balanced and it didn't seem to fully seat and nearly shook my router apart. Would not recommend.

Good quality, direct fit, straight machining, chucked bit is laser straight.

The table top router I was given was missing the 1/4 but had the 1/2 collet. Worked perfectly when installed.

Collet does not sit properly in a port cable router. Beware!
