I use this as a filter over the sump pump we drop in the creek when camping. It does a fine job of filtering the muck so whatever else you use it for, it should work.

I have been cutting it to size and using it in conjunction with Rite-Size C Cartridges. When placed in front of the cartridges I can make them last longer which save money.

I used it to create my own filter material for both a saltwater fish tank and a 900 gallon freshwater Koi pond. It works great. Help me keep the water clean. Easy to dispose of.

This creates crystal clear water. It’s like compacted poly fiber and it shows.Depending on your stocking and size of tank, you’ll need to replace it with a little square (assuming you have another source of mechanical/biological bacteria. Have a Smartcap on my Gladiator. It's about 2 years old and the roof vent material is starting to breakdown. Read on one of the forums that aquarium filter media was a good option. Easy to replace and feels much better than the original. The dark blue side is a bit more dense than the lighter side so I put that facing down. For a few dollars I now have at least a 10 year supply if I replace it every year! Inexpensive option that is better than the original for replacing the vent filter.

I bought this filter because I was low on cash, but it works well. I used to pay around $30 for a similar blue roll, but this one is thicker. Instead of getting overpriced sheets from Petco or PetSmart, I use them in my hang-on-back filter for my 20-gallon tank. I'll be purchasing from here again!
