I am impressed with quality of the product.Size is adjusted easily (and reliably), sturdy. Locks solidly over hiking boots (the model that I got is not intended for any technical ice-climbing)Fairly simple to put on (if you are not familiar with crampons - put them on at home, it is not fun trying to figure it out when it is cold and dark).

Works great, just make sure you don’t have big rounded toe and heel co structure in your boot.A few of us did some alpine hiking in Colorado in June (snow) and needed these. Two of us had boots with rounded toe and heel rubber. Great for hiking but they don’t match well with these. They kept falling off. We ended up tightening them so hard that my toes of the boot bent up significantly and my foot arched backward. Only then did they stay on.Great product just get some boots that will work well with crampons if you’re really going to depend on them.

These hold up great in Icey and slushy hike into base camps and summits. I wear a size 14 men’s shoe and these just barely work on largest fitting. The traction and lightweight aspect make these a great value. They took a few tries to learn how to install them correctly so I recommend reading the manual (I know, booo)

I wear size 12w boots and these did not work for me. Keep in mind that I was wearing size 12w hiking shoes and not actual boots. My buddy had size 10.5 shoes and these work for him. I had to buy the long bracket bars to get them to fit. Black Diamond should just include them in for the price that they charge. Other than that, they seem to work great on icy terrain.

Be advised, these crampons may require the longer bars. My AMERICAN size 12 Columbia Low top Hike boots needed one more hole. I am rating the product quality here and not my disappointment in the way the product is offered. You can't order these with a choice of bar lengths. If they are too short, you will need to give Black Diamond more money. Simply consider the total cost. They ARE worth it though.EXCELLENT crampon. Totally satisfied with the performance and construction. I learned of this crampon from a friend who highly recommended them. I own other excellent Black Diamond products.

I used these Black Diamond Contact Crampons to claim Mt. Saint Helens and they got me to the summit. Since I didn't have Mountaineering boots I was worried how this would work on a regular but sturdy pair of Danner hiking boots. They strapped on nicely without any movement and never loosened on the climb. they are extremely well made and easy to adjust. I would recommend a very sturdy soled hiking boot or better yet mountaineering boot for more technical climbs.Very happy with them and they will accompany me up South Sister very soon!

There is an extension bar you can purchase separately, but no one sells it. Bought these for a backpacking trip. Did not fit, had to pay $225 at a local outdoor store last minute. Went on my trip, came back and tried to return the crampons, and Amazon said it had been to long. I was out of the country at the time. The seller needs to heavily express that these don’t fit size 12, I only found that out by going to backcountry.com and reading it there. If you have big feet don’t buy

Substainal and look extremely durable. Sadly I didn't get to use them on my trip due to altitude sickness. They'd been purchased for traversing across a Glacier at 22,000ft, but should be great even in the mountains in a British winter. Can't wait to try them properly

Used these crampons for a winter hike in the Japan Alps: they did great with the hard-packed snow at 3,000m and I would definitely recommend them. Relatively lightweight and they stayed firm on my shoes, despite wearing them on soft trail runners! Only downside: any clumsiness that brings them in contact with your pants will produce a big hole in your goretex gear. They are sharp!
