The Black Diamond Mercury Mitt is a popular choice for year-round use and combines a BD.dry waterproof insert with an Empel DWR on the shell. The removable insulated liner, filled with Primaloft Gold Cross Core, dries quickly, and insulates even when wet. A four-way stretch fabric shell and a long gauntlet cuff keep spindrift and moisture outside, while the goat leather palm and additional reinforcement layer stands up to rocky terrain, repeated rope handling and the general wear and tear associated with dedicated mountain use.

This is the second pair of these mittens that I’ve purchased in the last 12 years. I only had to replace them because I lost one of my old ones. And I mean had to replace them because I didn’t raven think of buying any others because these are very warm, and durable. I’m not a fan of the cold but these make it tolerable.

The mittens are warm and appear well made of a shell and insert type. But it is hard to find, as in I never found, a place to buy black diamond replacement inserts like other manufacturers offer.
