The Blitz Cloth recommended by, Dan Erlewine, in "The Guitar Player Repair Guide", a best-seller in the field of guitar repair.Specially treated String Care cleaning cloth removes dirt and tarnish with little effort. String Care can be used on all metal strings for both acoustic and electric instruments. It leaves a protective shield on strings. Easy to use! Wipe strings gently with the String Care cleaning cloth. The yellow cloth will darken with use, but will continue to be an effective cleaner. Polish with the gray cloth, leaving as much of the protective shield as is desired to make the strings slick.

I wish I had known about this product 30 years ago. This is THE best product on the market to properly clean your strings without leaving pieces of lint stuck on them. All three of my guitars have one pack in their cases after I practice, gig or record. I don't put my guitar back in it's case until I wipe my strings clean. It may sound like a pain, but it's now routine for me and it takes only a few minutes so I can increase the life of my strings in addition to keeping my axes well maintained, looking and sounding exceptional. I play all three guitars frequently and strings get expensive in the long run. This product definitely saves me money, but they most importantly and most definitely help maintain the integrity of the strings keeping them sounding as clear as possible.

I just ordered this yesterday and haven't received it yet. From the reviews in mags. I should work well. It comes highley recommended from everyone I talk to. I gave it only one star because I don't even have it yet. UPDATE: I have now received my string care cloths and they work GREAT, better than advertised. They clean all of the gunk off of the strings and leave them feeling slick and very easy to play. I change my strings about every 3 Months and use nickel silver strings but these cloths still help out. Oh BTW I buy my Fender 3150L strings here at Amazon also.

Great system for keeping at bay oxidation and “ick load” on your strings! The first cloth cleans and the second cloth coats, making strings a little more slick so that movement is easier and there’s less friction. I like this Blitz so much that I’ve stuck one in each guitar case, in my workshop cart, and I’ve given them as presents. Everybody seems to like them. Thanks, Blitz! :-))

I have been using Blitz Cloths for over 40 yrs and they are the only thing I use to clean fretboards and polish frets. I am a guitar tech and have used every kind out there and keep coming back to the most reliable. Just make sure to wrap them back in the foil pouch and then in the zip lock bag after every use and they will last a long time. Does not matter that they turn black from the tarnish they remove, they still will work.

Cleans my guitar strings very well. It takes a while to wipe it down completely but the end result is amazing. Leaves a very slight silky "nice" feel on my acoustic strings but not greasy like other products that use baby oil in the formula. I would re-buy in a heartbeat!!

I've been using these since sometime in the mid to late 1980s. I was turned onto them by the late Mark Pollock at Charley's Guitar Shop. These things *do* work. They clean strings, and keep them clean. My strings stay 'viable' for much longer. That's helpful if you're playing all the time and/or have multiple guitars, as I once did for both of those. This recent purchase was a bummer. Upon opening the package and removing the actual cleaning cloth, I noticed two things. One, the cloth wasn't fully saturated with cleaning solution as they have been for decades. It was on the dry side. Two, the cloth is noticeably smaller, 1/4 to 1/3 smaller. What's more, the price is the same. The same price, for less product. In this era of incredible, outrageous greed, another company has found a way to give less while maintaining their profits. Have the Ferengi arrived on Earth, and taken over in disguise? The cloth still cleans, but as it contains less solution than it has for forty years or so, they won't last as long. Here's a tip if you use these. This also came from Mark Pollock. He said he thought it was just gun cleaner. So I buy CLP gun cleaner in the aerosol can, and get these things somewhat more saturated, then keep them in a heavy duty zip-lock baggie. I have some of these cloths from the end of the 80s and the 90s. I keep 'em going by using CLP. Another gun cleaner would probably work, too. But I can only speak to using CLP.So that's why three stars, and not five. On the basis of effectiveness, they rate a five. But as they are cheaping out on us, they get a three. Ya' know what, make that two. This is now a two start review. Way to go Blitz.Anyway, let's hope they don't *raise* the prices next.

So far, I like the Blitz string care cloths, but I use them less frequently than I expected. There are two cloths included in the package: one is treated with a chemical that cleans the strings, removes tarnish, and lubricates them to make them more comfortable to play. The other is a simple cotton cloth to wipe the strings down and remove the residue from the first cloth. My strings seem cleaner after using the cloth, and I notice a small difference in tone. I bought the cloths based on Dan Erlewine's recommendation in the Guitar Player Repair Guide, and he swears by them. I think they're effective, and the scent of the cloth is not a problem for me (which is relevant because I'm allergic to a lot of the other string cleaners on the market).I took off a star because it seems very hard to get all of the residue off the strings after cleaning them. This leaves my fingers covered in black stains after I play, and it sometimes gets onto the finish of my guitar. That's frustrating, and it means that I have to be careful not to touch my clothes or other surfaces after playing. This effect seems to linger for a day or two after cleaning, depending on how much playing time I'm putting in.All in all, it seems like a good product that cleans the strings and improves their tone a little bit, particularly with older strings. It's possible that I just need to scrub the strings down more after cleaning them. I'm currently using D'Addario phosphor bronze acoustic strings, and it's possible that this effect would be different with other strings.
