A little goes a long way. Blue Buffalo dry kibble is a great product for cats. It’s more satisfying for them than cheaper store brands. Their bodies use these better quality ingredients more slowly and completely, so they’re not constantly eating and pooping. The bits are smaller and are a great help to older cats who may not be able to eat bigger bits. This food also has included little veggie and fruit nuggets for more nutritional balance. (You can see the darker pieces.) This is the dry food I feed my cat because he likes it, it’s free of dyes and fillers, he poops less and he doesn’t vomit it up. This used to happen to him when he ate cheap store brands. I use BB wet food and let him nibble on a small portion of dry food for the rest of the day. He’s healthy, trim and active at 17 years old. I believe it’s all in eating good quality food. The price might seem more expensive. But compare how much litter you use, the extra you feeding, the money you pay for waste products and filler, and Blue Buffalo is a great buy.

At first we really liked this food. We had previously been using a denatured protein prescription food for all our cats because one of our cats had some chronic illnesses that required it. After he passed away in Nov 2017, we switched to Blue Buffalo Wilderness Adult Indoor Chicken. We saw a nice difference in our remaining cats' fur quality right away - fluffier, thicker, softer. After a few months we started noticing our cats' faces looking a little plump, and then the body on our 5 y/o female started getting rounder. On vet visits their weights were up by over 1 lb each from the previous year (these are cats who are between 4 and 5 years old). I think this food is just a little too high calorie for a typical indoor cat who plays with toys, climbs the occasional cat tower and stretches/sharpens claws, cuddles, and sleeps on a bed. We will be switching to the weight control to see if we can shed 1/2 a lb on each kitty. The other - probably coincidental - thing is that my 14 year old Maine Coon started losing some weight after we switched to this food, and started having sniffles about a month after the switch, which my vet said was due to some physiologic stress going on in her body. We did not think about the food switch playing a role (particularly because Blue Buffalo is such a high quality food). Four months after the switch, we noted on her vet visit/scale that she had lost some weight. We did some watchful waiting and re-weighed her within 3 months. She lost 1.5 lbs in those 3 months. We did her lab bloodwork and everything came back perfect so she has been diagnosed with GI cancer. I choose not to do a biopsy or put her under that stress but the vet is 99% certain it is a GI lymphoma or adenocarcinoma. So, it may just be age and coincidence, or the change from the previously denatured protein diet to this, but she is now undergoing a last ditch prednisolone treatment to see if her weight and symptoms improve. It may also just be related to her increased risk for cancer in old age. We will be continuing to use BB.We also adopted some new kittens after fostering a family. We adopted 2 of the kittens after the foster job was done, and they grow like WEEDS on this food and are very active. We initially had them on the BB wilderness dry kitten food but the adult food has plenty of what they need to grow. They have hit almost 4 months of age and one of them is already 5.5 lbs and the other is 4.2 lbs (with no supplements or human food, and they only get 3-4 treats a week that are 2 calories apiece). I have never seen kittens grow this fast! While it is nice, we will still be switching to the weight control formula near the end of our most recent shipment to prevent them becoming overweight.Bottom line: If you have indoor cats that are just so-so in activity, I would recommend not using this high of a calorie food (adult indoor chicken wilderness).

This is the one food that my picky bengal cat will eat, and that does not give him diarrhea. Please never change the formula as I don’t know what id do. The ingredients seem wholesome and my cat seems happy and healthy.

We like this brand due to the high protein content. We still also feed ours a portion of wet food each night. The wet food does not create a problem with our cat on refusing to eat this dry cat food.
