These brushes have nice sturdy bristles. They'll work well with acrylics or oils I believe. The brush heads (the metal part) isn't going to stay on the stick though. Out of the package, they're already shaky. So after a little use, they're going to pop off. Now - you CAN take a vice and really crimp the crap out of them once that happens - but you shouldn't have to. That's why I say they're backup brushes. Something to have on hand if all your other brushes are dirty or ruined until you can get a good set again.

A few minor nitpicks aside, this is a decent set of inexpensive brushes for everything from detail to larger areas. I ordered them specifically for the variety of shapes. I've been doing a fair amount of painting and crafting, and I'm rapidly destroying some of my older brushes, so I really needed to find some replacements.A few little issues: so one of the smaller round brushes had some bristles that were permanently bent off at almost a 90 degree angle from the brush tip. I took a photo of them and then snipped those bristles off so the rest of the brush would remain useful. Another of the brush heads has a bit of a split in the center that seems to be caused by the bristles being uneven in length. This particular brush is similar to many that I already have, so it's not a total deal-breaker. I'll still find a use for it.The bristles feel soft, and I'm not seeing any with loose bristles, so what you get for the price point is a great deal -- just don't expect perfection. These will be great crafting brushes.

I'm honestly shocked at the quality on these given the very low price. I ordered them for my 6 year old to replace some junky kid ones that I actually paid more for and expected similar quality to those. Surprisingly, they're actually nice enough that I've been stealing them at night to do some acrylic work in my sketchbook and on smaller canvases. I primarily do watercolors and don't want to risk messing up my expensive brushes with a foray into acrylics. These have been phenomenal for that and I'm ordering a set of my own. The bristles are nice and well-trimmed and the ferules are tight and securely attached to both the handles as well as the heads. The handles are a good length for both detail and looser work and I haven't experienced any issues with shedding. They're not going to out perform high end brushes for true professionals but these would be absolutely perfect for students and adult hobbyist painters.

With art supplies it seems you often have a choice between "super expensive high quality stuff for 'serious' artists" and "poor quality garbage intended for kindergarten craft time." Fortunately you sometimes find some stuff that falls between these extremes, and this is one of them! These are inexpensive brushes and they may not be the best of the best, but they are actually quite good. They don't lose bristles or become misshapen easily, the ferrules are all tight. They have a good texture (soft but not too soft), there are many size and shape options in the set, and they clean well (I have been using them with acrylics.)

I'm not an artist, but I do enjoy painting for fun here and there. I really love the variety of the brushes in this set. I think it will really help me play around with different techniques. The bristles seem tightly placed, and the handles feel nice to me. As someone who just needs and inexpensive set for playing around with and hobby painting, these are a perfect option

These are not the best brushes I have ever seen, there are a few that need trimming, and a few that are very uneven, but sometimes you need a set of inexpensive brushes that you full intend on destroying. I got them for details in watercolor, I think they are probably better for acrylics, but they are suitable for watercolor. I am tossing this set in with my travel supplies, I don't want to take my expensive good brushes out when I am painting in the woods and they are great for mucking about in my sketchbooks. The round 7 and the filbert 10 were my favorite from the sets.
