The gauge works, but unfortunately the retraction lever broke after 2 months of occasional use. Would not recommend this brand.

Our old micrometer finally died and we needed a new one for our print shop. This item was reasonably priced. It comes with a nice, sturdy storage case and an extra battery. It is easy to use, easy to zero-out for accurate reading and the display is clear to read.

So I think, overall, I like this gauge well enough. However, I feel really inadequate sometimes because of how the spindle mechanism works. On some of the other gauges I tried, you "push" the spindle down until it touches the material. In my case, that's leather. Some of the leather I want to measure is thick and stiff. So much so that the leather will actually push the spindle back up giving you an incorrect reading. I'm not sure of the correct way to hold the gauge and the material such that it will be perfectly parallel to the anvil. I'm adding a picture so you can see what I'm trying to share. When I measured a piece of paper, it actually gave me a decent read which was impressive. I think I will end up enjoying this once I figure out how to keep the leather from inadvertently pushing back on the spindle.
