I can’t give you an opinion on distance, as I use this in my bedroom so the remote is about 6 feet from the cord.BACKGROUND INFO: Because oil heat is so expensive, and my oil company made me pay for a half tank of oil that was never put in my tank (in 2019)…I switched over to using the small, square (about 12â€x12â€), electric heater fans in all of our rooms instead of using the oil baseboard heat. Our heaters fans all have a thermostat with 4 settings - fan, low heat, medium heat, and high heat. They auto-shutoff if they overheat, and a safety spring button on the bottom that also auto-shutoffs the unit if it tips over. NOTE: unless you have a 2nd fan running behind it for a cooling breeze - NEVER run it on its hottest setting…the unit WILL overheat in about 5-10 minutes and will not automatically turn back on.That said, the medium will absolutely suffice for any reasonably sized room (1 heater heats both double parlors, about 11’x22’ for both rooms). I LOVE these cheap, simple, heaters!I know that this review is not about the heaters, but it helps you understand the need for this product. The only downside to these heaters is that they don’t have temp numbers on them for the setting (but if you point the knob somewhere between the left-most setting to the the left-upper corner, you can set it around 72F degrees; however, the thermostat on these heaters allow for too much temperature difference (tolerance) before turning on or off.I don’t have a room thermometer to be able to tell you what that temp difference is, but I’m guessing that it’s about 5 degrees. My husband likes the room cold (which I can’t stand) and I like it toasty warm (which he can’t stand). So I point the knob to the upper left corner and guesstimate that I’m telling the heater that I want the temp around 72F degrees. Here’s where the temperature tolerance becomes an issue…a 5 degree tolerance will tell the heater to wait until it’s 67F degrees in the room before auto-starting the heater. 🥶The heater then runs until it hits the upper tolerance of about 77 degrees before auto-stopping. 🥵I needed something to control the tolerance while we’re awake, watching tv.So I bought this. I have the small heater plugged into it, and the remote is on my side of the bed. This unit works EXACTLY as advertised! When the room starts getting too chilly, I press the on button and my heater turns on. Once it starts getting a little too warm, I click the off button, and my heater turns off completely. Saving energy as well as keeping us from being too hot it too cold.I’ve had the unit a few weeks now and love it. I have the plug itself under my dense foam bed. I mention this because lately I’ve had to press the buttons a couple of times before the plug responded. I’ll order new batteries for the remote (it takes special batteries - 23A/12V, which is kind of a bummer). The plug is surprisingly larger in size than I expected, about the size of a man’s fist in width, so hiding the plug was an unexpected inconvenience.Like I said, I LOVE this product! It does what I need it to do, when I need it to!I’ll see if I can alter my review to add a video, but I’ll wait for the new battery to come in before trying to test any distance with it. If the problem is the battery, and not the unit/line of sight (which there is none now), then I would be rather annoyed that the battery started draining so soon.If the problem is interference from other wireless products…I’ll just have to live with that. It doesn’t take away how much I very much enjoy this purchase! The next screen is asking me if it’s weatherproof…I have no idea. I use it in bedroom.

I usually use Alexa controlled smart switches around my home and yard and set up various home automation routines or just use verbal call outs to Alexa to turn things on and off. Even have one an Alexa controlled switch on my home automation rack (for TV and audio) to cycle it on and off. But of course using a smart switch would not work for cycling on and off my home internet and network because as soon as you turn off the network, the smart switch becomes disconnected. And thus you cannot turn it back on by voice.Because my internet equipment is in a server closet and difficult to reach without pulling out server racks and such, cycling my internet and network became (first world problem) difficult. I quickly "installed" this remote control plug, which is incredibly robust and durable feeling, and put all the equipment back and, voila, I could control the power to my internet and network and easily cycle on and off. Further more, I cannot believe how FAR the little remote works. No reason I could not keep it, the remote, in the section of the house where the equipment is, but I tried it from the main part of my house through SEVERAL walls and it worked incredibly well. Highly recommend.

Worked great for plugging in the Christmas tree and angel. With a simple on/off button, I could light my tree without crawling under it.

This was easy to use and we were able to turn on our Christmas lights while inside the house using the remote control.

Wonderful device but battery is....marginal. This is an incredibly useful device and it works wonderfully well... But the battery shipped with the device is marginal at best. I have ordered three BN-links and one battery was dead on arrival and a second failed after a week. Buy this product at ONCE but when you do order a battery pack from amazon (Energizer Alkaline Batteries A23 (2 Battery Count)) for $4 for two batteries. Everything will work fine then.Hint: the little light on the control will flash very briefly when you press either button if the battery is good; no need to troubleshoot every connection before you test the control unit. If it doesn't flash change to a good battery. I speak from experience because I did it the other way the first time.

I love the remote feature. I have led rope lighting in my chicken run which is plastic lined for the winter to keep the snow out. When it gets dark I can turn the lights on or off by the remote without even having to step foot outside. I do have to open my patio door and reach out when I press the button though, my setup the remote signal will not reach the outlet with my patio door closed. The location of the outlet is cold but it does not get wet or moist as the run is roofed and the outlet is located up in the rafter where it is completely dry whether the run is plastic wrapped for the season or not.I have had no problems with it's operation in the past month I have owned this. It's made turning the lights on and off so much easier and more convenient.

Love the 3 plus outlet. It makes setting up some of the decorations so much easier and with extension cords.
