Oh this tool is so handy! I use it to draft up chalk signage before going over with a marker and it writes so well and erases without scratches or ghosting. It's a true chalk consistency rather than a colored pencil which can be hard to erase. This works well on a lot of surfaces.I love how many extra refill pieces it comes with, plus the sharpener! It's great to be able to retract it and not worry about breakage. I've been previously using a mechanical pencil with smaller refill lead but that's so much more expensive and harder to come by. This is a great alternative!Would be ideal for any work with chalkboards at all! (restaurant/coffee menus, classrooms, event spaces, weddings, home decor...etc)

I have tried many marking systems over the years. The water erasable blue marker is best for light fabrics. This system is a little pricey but has most of everything you want for quilting. It has accuracy, a fine line and refills. I would suggest only marking a section at a time. Handling the fabric a lot will cause the markings to fade. To keep the lines crisp mark as much as you plan to sew at that time. It is the bestest.

7 of the sticks survived. I love the chalk. But if you order it, specify ship in cardboard & order from a store that's NOT ON AMAZON because people fulfilling packaging & shipping obviously don't care. Like absolutely zero f's given. It got shipped in a paper mailer. SmhAnd I'd say it happened in shipping... But if you look at the paper display packaging, it looks like a dog chewed it before it even went in the paper mailer. You can see even the hard plastic case is cracked like it got stomped on.I don't have time to wait for a return so I'll deal with it.. it's only $20. But it's a waste & someone in shipping is an f*ing inconsiderate idiot.I'm simply not going to order it via Amazon again. Byeeee.✌ï¸I do really like Bohin's chalk sticks tho. They great. ðŸ‘

I just received my marking chalk pencil. The product itself is usually a good product. However, when I opened the packing envelope, the product package was opened and the additional chalk refills were all broke.

I was looking for a chalk pencil to mark Sashiko patterns on fabric using an acrylic stencil. The chalk was too thick to fit in the stencil cutouts, even when fully sharpened. the Bohin mechanical pencil with 0.9mm lead works better for stencils with cutouts to trace. I will likely be able to use this pencil when marking with a ruler or straightedge.

I heard of this product via a session on quilting using stencils and decided to buy one for my sewing kit. It's great, you can easily draw your design on your quilt without it draggging on the fabric and it just washes or brushes away afterwards. It came with a good supply of chalks 'sticks' and a sharpener.
