These are nice book stands. I got them to display my wonderful children's books at a fair and they worked well. They come with a protective cover on both sides. I originally thought that they were just matte finish, which would have been fine, but you can pull off the covers with some effort and have perfectly clear plastic stands. They're not huge but they worked for my 8"x8" paperbacks and I was happy with that. They make quite the difference to have standing books instead of everything on the table.

For each of the stands, both sides have a protective film. You will need to take off the film in order for the stand to be clear instead of having a frosted look with some tiny air pockets. I didn't have too much difficulty getting one side to peel off, but the other side was extremely frustrating. I was rubbing my fingernail against the edge of the stand for literally 10 minutes before it finally came off. Later I looked at the instructions (who knew this type of thing would need instructions?) and it said you can use a piece of tape to more easily remove the film. I'll be sure to do that for the next stand that I use. After I got the film off, it seemed like there might have been a tiny amount of sticky residue on the stand, but not too much.I put a 5/8" thick wooden plaque trophy in the stand, and now that plaque can stand up in my trophy case. There's enough room in the stand for the plaque to lean back a bit, which is good, because that means it won't fall over forwards. The instructions also say that you can write on the stand with marker, and later wipe off the ink with alcohol. I'm not going to risk trying that, but apparently it's an option if you want to do that.

Ordered this to be able to display some signed comics that I have and they work great. It provides a good amount of support for the boarded backs and they don't droop, although they may over time. I like that the lip at the front is clear because it doesn't block any of the artwork.
