Bont is the world's largest producer of speed skates. We were established in 1975 and we have produced over 2.5 million pairs of composite speed skates and cycling shoes. Our shoes and skates have won many Olympic gold medals and broken many world records and won numerous world titles. We order carbon fiber by the kilometer and we insist on extremely high quality. We now offer some of the carbon fiber that we use in our products to the public so you can purchase quality carbon fiber at wholesale prices.

This carbon fiber is 3K which is perfect for all applications and is one of the strongest weaves of carbon on the market. You will need to use a resin to make your carbon fiber set. Epoxy resin is probably the best choice but you can decide on the resin based on your requirements. Some resins react better than others to the sun and some resins are more flexible than others. Talk to your local hardware store about your needs and they will be able to suggest a suitable resin. Be sure to always wear a respirator when using resin. Always wash your hands after handling carbon fiber.

HISTORY

Bont was founded in Sydney in 1975 when Inze Bont, a recreational speed skater decided to fiberglass the back of his leather speed skates to gain more support. Bont was the first footwear manufacturer to use exotic material like fiberglass in 1974, Kevlar in 1986 and Carbon Fiber in 1989, and the first to use heat moldable resins and thermoplastics. In the 1980's Bont dominated the quad racing scene with the lightest and strongest boots on the market thanks to our unique one-piece manufacturing technique. Bont was the first quad skate company to use lace covers, velcro, and aluminum strengtheners in the boots.

This is EXACTLEY as described, it comes folded and in a bag. Other reviewers have complained about but its in the description. Yes it has some freyong to the edges, that is what happens to carbon fiber. Great product and cost in my opinion, and yes, I do a lot of carbonfiber laminating.

I am using this with 3D printed molds to make quadcopter parts. I am sure a lot of potential buyers are looking for something that delivers a cheaper option to the 200/300mm x 200/300mm carbon fiber flat plates that sell for $20+ and this is a great solution if you have two pieces of glass you can sandwich these between. The epoxy can be had for about $50 per gallon which goes a really long way with this though I am not sure just how far as the parts I make are 1-4" x 1-4" in size and no taller then 2". The only difference I can see vs manufactured carbon fiber products I have purchased in the past is some minor bubbles(need a vacuum chamber) and the epoxy turned a little yellowish after about 3 days though this is likely a result of my being cheap and going with some stuff I got for 30 bucks a gallon on sale. Since I am new to this finding crystal clear epoxy may be the most difficult part beyond the mold making.

It came folded and creased, pretty much unusable. Should have came on a roll.

The material itself looks like decent quality. A little upset and confused at the same time why anyone would think folding carbon fiber weave is a good idea? It was folded up, and not neatly, then packed direct into a Amazon plastic bag mailer. Tiny loose particles of fiber flying everywhere! There are creases and stretches everywhere, the edges are tattered, stretched, falling apart. Seems like a waste of good product to me. I will still use this on smaller projects, but laminating a large piece will be a waste of time. This stuff is not exactly cheap- if it was a lot cheaper, i might say its worth it, but the bulk of the material is pretty much useless for anything that needs to be aesthetically pleasing. The material is great, the problem is it is now ruined and mostly not usable due to carelessness.

So of course, this is just the base material for your project. You will need to process this fabric before it starts to actually mean anything. Make sure you understand what you are working with. Think of it like fiberglass, you really don't want to get this stuff in your lungs when you start to cut, manipulate and process it. Make sure you follow your proper PPE procedures and handle them with care. This is a raw piece so you can easily destroy the carbon fiber weave if you are not careful. This was a good price for the size of sheet you get and everything seems good up to this point. I wish you well on your journey and this is a great place to start!

I gave 4 stars based off appearance and quality. I haven't used it yet so can't do 5 stars yet. I got it for my husband to use on his remote control cars and on some other small things to give them the carbon fiber appearance. You do need resin to use this which does not come with it. Excited to use it!

viene doblado, no enrollado, por lo que está todo dañado a la llegada. todo el mundo sabe que no se pueden plegar materiales compuestos
