Went together pretty fast... very good instructions... really clear... has a cute little witch hat button on back for battery cover... only aggravating thing is just tape touch pad until you get it where u need it to be... then glue... I also taped underside line to keep it secure and to stop it from moving until the glue dried... this kit is a wood one that snaps together... only 2 things to cut out and make into books... I think it would be good a kit for a parent and child to do together or young adult..I also wouldn't put the witch button on until the end because it makes the back stick up when you're trying to lay kit flat to snap together

My daughter has been doing this for a while but she told me this is the most beautiful thing she ever made. And the result was perfect I just love it

The Hamino Soras Library Book Nook Kit is a fun way to create a little wonder in a library bookshelf! This kit comes with full color step by step picture instructions and a complete set of tools for placing all the pieces together. The only thing you should need is the batteries to power the lights (two AAs for this library kit).What I like most about this kit is the classic scene and the wonderful attention to detail and layering within the scene that gives it great depth. This kit is also a nice compact size. Finished size for this book nook is a compact 7" deep x 4.1" wide x 9.2" tall, so it should fit on even a smaller shelf space. The pieces are all wood except for a few stickers that are to be put onto the books.One thing I noticed was that some of the pieces are not printed clearly when viewed up close. Please see the photos included with this review that show the clearly printed instruction sheet next to the wooden kit pieces. The tiny items probably will not be viewed that closely, though, so as a whole, it is not a dealbreaker for me.This book nook kit is priced considerably lower than other book nooks kits I've found, so even though I've noted the printing quality is just "ok" for some of the tiny pieces, I still think this kit is a great option overall. For a regular list price of $18.99, this kit would make a great gift and provide hours of entertainment for the maker.

Awesome gift for any child who likes to put things together such a very neat toy to build

This could have been a great Book Nook kit. But so far major fail straight out of the box.Even the box it comes in presents as a cheap product. I wouldn't want to give the as a gift.There is no indication until opened that it is the kit I ordered.There is a tube of clear mystery glue included. It leaked all over the tools it was bagged with, and the included tweezers, and nails that are needed are embedded in the dried glue. There is no way to separate them. I'll have to see if I can scavenge the correct nails from my tool box. I have tweezers from other kits. But if I didn't I'd have to buy them.There is a tube of UNLABELED mystery glue. I have a pet peeve about no labels or safety information for people and pets on items like glue in these kits. Many types of craft glues should not be used around birds due to fumes that could kill them.This is NOT a beginner kit. And it is not suitable for teens. The instructions are poorly presented, and where there are written instructions rather than diagrams the translation to English is very poor. A beginner or young teenager would just become frustrated. I'm not sure I will have th patience to try to muddle my way through this mess.I have no idea what a #3 battery is. If I can't sort it out from the electrical components I'll have to bring that part to my local hardware store and see if they can help me.Pros: The colors on the boards are vibrant, and the parts that were not damaged by the glue seem to be of good quality. I think I can salvage this kit.I'm setting it aside until I am in the mood to deal with more than just a little frustration, and struggling with poor instructions. I purchased this for myself, so I'm not scrambling for a better gift for anybody.I cannot recommend this kit. Hoping to find similar from a different company.UPDATE AND EDIT: After posting my review Hamino reached out to me about my experience. They felt that the glue disaster was likely something that occurred due to handling during shipping. They offered me a replacement in kind or to choose a different Book Nook. I decided to accept their kind offer and went with the Magic Research Institute. It arrived in excellent condition. The glue was packaged in it's own zip lock bag inside the kit. And it comes with everything needed to complete the kit.As with the original failed kit , the materials are excellent quality and the colors vibrant.The replacement was everything I had expected form the first kit. I have changed my review from 2 stars to 5 based on the quality of the replacement kit and the unsolicited response from Hamino. "Stuff" Happens, what matters and shows true quality is the response to it.. If you ever hav e a problem with any of Hamino's products you can be assured that they will make it right. They stand by their products, and value customer experience and feedback. So despite the bad beginning an over all 5 star experience an a 5 star replacement product. Give Hamino's Book Nooks a try. You won't be sorry.

The title says it all, really. I have gotten a couple of these kinds of kits, and this one is my favorite so far. My favorite bit is the lights, which give the whole thing a fantastic sense of depth. The only thing I don’t love is the little witch figure. She seems out of place, and just a bit too cartoony and doesn’t fit in with the look of the study. But aside from that, I really enjoyed putting this together, and it looks fantastic.All in all, I definitely recommend this kit.
