I used this to replace seemingly good looking - but very old - points on a classic VW Beetle with an 009 distributor. The engine ran much better when it was swapped out. This made a big difference!Note that I could not install it without loosening the distributor and changing the timing, due to the inaccessibility of the condenser (which should also be replaced at the same time). I marked the position of the carburetor with a marker, moved it back and then checked the timing with a strobe light.

After getting ignition parts from my local auto parts store that were sub par I opted to order Bosch parts from Amazon. While the locally available ones do work I need something that will last. My 72 Bug is my daily driver and I put 2 - 3k miles on it a month. These products will last a little longer.When it comes to my 74 Bus, we use it on weekends. I was tired of every weekend needing to check and adjust points or clean the cap and rotor. Go with Bosch products and you won't be disappointed.

Excellent. Don't hesitate to buy lots of these to keep your Bug polite. And don't buy the cheap off-brand ones. This consumable item should be replaced at every prescribed maintenance cycle.

Bought Bosch because I thought it would be good quality. Lubricated them as instructed, but still the plastic cam follower broke after less than 10 miles of driving.
