The GST18V-47 18V Barrel-Grip Jig Saw has extended upfront soft-grip areas and a small barrel-grip circumference for greater tool control. It provides a variable-speed dial – from 550 up to 2,700 no-load strokes per minute – to match the speed to material. The jig saw has a stroke length of about 1 In., delivering a cutting capability up to 4.7 In. in wood and up to 0.8 In. in aluminum. It has four orbital-action settings for cut control and auto-stop to stop the stroke mechanism. The saw also has a large die-cast aluminum footplate with no-mar plastic overshoe to help prevent damage to the workpiece. The cut lines stay visible due to the dust blower and LED light. It features a tool-free T-shank blade-change system.

This review isn't intended to be a comparison of products. I would consider Bosch cordless tools to be a job site product. While Milwaukee products are still the standard bearer for repeated drop tests in my opinion, Bosch products are extremely ergonomic and the battery life is fantastic. Bosch put a lot of development into their CORE battery technology, and their standard 4.0 ah battery lasts longer than any of the other products I've tested. Bosch also put a lot of design work into reducing vibration in their products. If you're a weekend warrior, this technology shows up in products like the jigsaw, grinders, sanders, etc, where after a full day's work your hands and forearms won't be tired from usage.

I found I have bought more and more Bosch tools. This jig saw is one of the best and useful tool I have, very comfortable and very little vibration.

I had the corded Bosch Barrel-Grip Jig saw and I loved it. This one is much lighter, smaller and much more precise... It is a very powerful tool as well. At medium speed and regular inclination of the blade, it is much faster than the corded one or any of the jig saw I've ever had. It goes through wood like butter last night. And I used an old Bosch blade. And the fact that it is cordless, it makes it even better.
