Been playing bass for years. While trying to learn electric guitar, I decided to get a Line 6 Helix LT. Was using that Helix for both electric guitar and bass. Well, that Helix doesn't work anymore and decided to build my own bass pedalboard. Researching the pedals, board, and cables was super fun. But for the patch cables themselves, I knew I wanted the smallest solderable form factor I could find (so that I can make my own custom length cables). Went through a couple pancake style models but wasn't satisfied at how large they were. I almost gave up and figured I needed to go with Ernie Ball flat ribbons or EBS cables. Neither of them can be re-soldered, as far as I know.Then I came upon these Boss patch cables. Not the cheapest but you can definitely take them apart to resolder the cables. They are also only 13mm wide which is as small as the Ernie Ball flat ribbon connectors. I'm so happy I found these. They look sharp, are tiny, and best of all, when I move my pedals around, I can resolder to exact length.

These are expensive per length, especially especially since they're manufactured in China. But they're cleverly designed to save pedalboard space. Compared to other (standard) connectors that can be dis-/re-assembled with 2 screws, these save about 1/3 inch in length, and a bit more space in width. The cable is also unusually skinny, but because it's round, it twists easier than ribbon cables. Can't speak to durability, but they'll fit tight spaces.

Not cheap but a noticeable improvement on a big pedal board. The 8†length ones are pretty handy too, depending on your setup
