The material is very lightweight. We've not had a chance to test it with waterproof outside. Material is not very soft. The pants seem true to fit. The vest part, my son said was a bit odd and felt more like he was wearing a bra. Therefore, he only wears the pants and not the vest part.

That's a really nice set of hiking gear. Rather comfortable, well me, definitely can hold way against rock, gravel, sticks, and the lake! Easy to put on, and easy to clean after it gets all nasty! Did I mention comfortable, because that's probably the most important piece of this!

So, the pants and vest are well sewn, with thick toothy zippers and quality stretch polyester. These fit about one size smaller than sized, especially in length. They run short.I do not like the vest and enither does my 10 yo son. It literally looks and fits like it was made from a bra pattern. When I showed it to my boys, they asked why I got a little bra for them. Once the vest is hooked to the pants it's not quite as bad looking, but for boys, it looks and fits way too much like a bra or bikini top for them to want to wear it.

Got the "14 years" size. Dont believe it! These are CHILDRENS clothes. The size "14" would be small for a 10 year old kid. The "tactical" vest is also a joke. Looks barely bigger than a girls bra. Also, description says "waterproof"---NOT! The fabric is typical nylong/poly/cotton blend and while may repel water and is quick drying, it is not waterproof!The fabric and quality is about what you'd expect. The material is lightweight and breathable and would be suitable for warm weather. For younger children or for dress-up/halloween, these would probably work fine. But if you're looking for true functional hiking wear for your pre-teen, I would look elsewhere.

Got these for my 6 year old who enjoys going camping with dad. I thought this would be a cool addition his camping gear. He was a little thrown off by the vest because he said it looked like a bra lol but after I told him he could use it as a tactical vest he got excited. I like that the pants could be turned into shorts since the weather can change throughout the day.

Hiking mom approved. These are genuinely waterproof, after washing we tested these out in the wet snow for a few hours and not even the seams leaked and they kept kiddo warm (with layers underneath). The pockets are fairly big and there's only one rear pocket but the vest makes up for that. The vest has the ability to connect to the pants but it also works comfortably outside of a jacket the straps on the vest are adjustable at the shoulders but not the chest so size accordingly. My daughter is in between sizes 7-8 and the 8 fit just right so from a mom perspective you might want to size up if you want room to grow. The reflectors are a nice touch and the pockets on the vest are great and hold all sorts of things. My daughter thinks these are the coolest pants with the ability to zip off the bottoms.

These hiking pants fit my 13-year-old skinny son perfectly, which was a pleasant surprise! The adjustable features make them great for outdoor activities. However, the material is a bit thinner than I expected. While it’s lightweight and quick-drying, I would have preferred something a little more durable. Still, a decent option for camping or casual outdoor wear.

I use them for fishing. Top section secures to bottoms via loop & snap buttons. Straps are adjustable, material has some give but not super stretchy. Fits well! May fit a bit snug if you have thick sweater or pants under. This set can be unisex as it does fit me as well (5'0 110lbs women). Plenty of pockets for accoutrements.I hope you found my review helpful.
