Bought size 14 for my 12 year old. He is slender. I could have easily gone with 12 but I was worried about arm length as he has very long arms.Waist area has elastic sections but does not have adjustable bands. I had extra 4-5 inches at the pants length. Easy to fix for me. I would go with the exact size. For reference he is 5’0â€and 80 lbs

I would size down if you buy this. It is good quality for the price but it was so oversized it couldn’t even be taken in enough to fit.
