I've owned this futon frame for just about 2 years now and it's proven itself to be a very solid piece. I love the tray arms and the drawer units, too! The drawers are very handy for stashing away a couple of throws and even a pillow. The tray arms and the drawers also class it up and make it look a little more like a regular piece of traditional furniture (think "Pottery Barn" or "Crate & Barrel") and a little less like that college frat house futon you had back in the 90's. Plus if you move, you only need to partially disassemble it and not have to worry about trying to maneuver a traditional sofa through doorways and up or down stairs. Bonus!

We received our futon/couch in a timely matter, even though it was a little delayed by flooding in our area. My nineteen year old son put it together with a little help from his Dad. My kids put a twin mattress on the back and doubled over twin mattress on the seat. It is very comfortable. I thought it was great that I could sit back and still put my feet on the floor. (I am only 5'2") I asked my 6'3" husband if he liked it, because of this. He said he was totally comfortable leaning back and stretching out his legs. My son and daughters seem totally happy as well. The drawers are great for storing throws and my daughter is planning to storing an "in progress puzzle" in one of them. (Perfect for keeping it out of the reach of 3dogs and 4 cats) Just slide it in and back out when you want. Reasonable price for an attractive couch that is sturdy and well made.I feel confident in my opinion since I grew up in family business which specialized in building, repairing and refinishing furniture.

The futon is very attractive look, well built, and comfortable. The only reason it loses a star is because the directions were terrible. My boyfriend and I had to take it apart at least three times because the directions were written poorly. Keep in mind that despite the high price, this doesn't not come with a mattress. If you don't like to build things, kick in the extra for assembly.

So far it has been fantastic. We have been using it as a sofa for about a month in the spare room (playroom, junk room & guest room). The kids are off and on it all the time. Over the holidays it got its first work out as a bed. Our guest said it was comfortable. Changing it to a bed was easy, my 5'4" self did it without any issues. Be advised i had to move it about 8 inches away from the wall to convert it, not a problem for our room, but something to be aware of. When it arrived one of the shelf supports was split. I contacted customer service and they sent a replcement immediately, they got back to me within the hour. I could not have been happier with the sellers customer service. With 3 children i picked up a waterproof mattress cover and leave it on while it is in sofa mode too. It has already saved us once (hot chocolate mess). The mattress will inch down over time and will need to be readjusted (while in sofa mode).

I think the people who had trouble building from the instructions have never built furniture from instructions before. Put together in about 2 hours without ever backtracking. It fits my full-size 10" futon just fine (it's a little hard to fold from the futon thickness, but I have hopes that the mattress will get used to it). The drawers fit perfectly and have a lot of space. Fingers crossed that it holds up, because it seems sturdy and nice hardwood!UPDATE: BAD DESIGN for locking the futon in the upright positions. Yes, each position is held by 2 1/2" x 1" pieces of plastic (so 4 total of these little things). These apparently can rip the 3/4" threading right out of the frame within a month, leaving you with a bed only. Garbage! I can't even return it without hours of work and finding packing material.

Solidly built with heavy wood, this is a great futon frame! I was a little nervous about putting it together after reading the reviews, but it wasn't difficult at all so maybe they have changed the directions. It did take some time though, about 2 and a half hours by myself with one person helping with fitting the parts of the frame together toward the end. I would recommend reading the directions through completely before beginning, including the second sheet that came in the box with the arms, as it amends some of the final directions on the first sheet. It came very well packaged in three boxes. Heavy but not too bad - my sixteen year old daughter managed to move them inside by herself. The wood is sturdy, the color beautiful, and it is a very attractive piece of furniture. I bought the full size DHP 8-Inch Independently-Encased Coil Premium Futon Mattress on Amazon to go with it and it fits perfectly. This futon is well worth the money. Highly recommend!

Instruction are not clear. Stickers on wrong place. One box showed up 6 days later. Which had all instruction. Three boxes on total. One tab was broken inside the hole. Had to drill it out and buy another one. The bed is solid. Nice quality. I did buy a mattress from diffrent company. Over all I glad I have the bed. But it’s a headache to put together. Takes at least two people

Update: 8 inch mattress is super comfortable!!I put the drawers together in about an hour. My husband started on the bed. It took about 2.5 hours. I’m slower, so I started earlier. The instructions were easy to follow and it’s solid and a gorgeous piece of furniture. Just waiting on the mattress.
