Well first off the advertisement is wrong. This is a DME kit not a liquid as advertised. That kinda upset me and I was going to return it. I decided to keep the DME and use it for my yeast starters. Well my girlfriend wanted to brew beer with me so I grabbed one of these little one gallons for a short and sweet brew. Everything went well. I’ve just moved to secondary fermentation and it smells amazing. ABV calculations predict considerably more alcohol than advertised, but I’m not complaining! It’s gonna be delicious!!

I purchased this from The Grape and the Granary and I received it 4 days before the estimated shipping date which was great. Instructions were easy to follow. Note: ingredient kit comes with everything (grain bag, bottle caps, priming sugar, malts, spices, hops) except sanitizer. Can't to try it in a few weeks!

Good product. Don't do it on an electric stove however. Doesn't hold temp as well. I reccomend propane stove.

I picked up an eqpt kit with the wide mouth jar (for ease of cleaning, and for the little faucet). It has extra head room for the extra fuzz you get with some of the high potency brews, like this one. In the fermenter, it seemed to take longer before it cleared, but when it did clear it was beautiful. I bottled after 15 days, and it is sitting in the bottles now (probably 3wks more). I used the sugar tablets at bottling for an even carbonation. Be careful with over carbonation, if it "jumps" when you open the bottle, the stuff in the bottom comes up and clouds the beautiful clarity. I bottled in 1L bottles, now I am wondering if just one of these will lay me out! (8%+??)

The recipe is very simple to make. However, it didn't include the yeast as advertised. This is a specific yeast type for the style, so I will not get the intended product once it is done. I'm sure it will be excellent either way, but by the time I made it I had to use a different yeast that will give it a different flavor than intended.

Typically i make larger batches, but wanting to brew and sample a variety of beers without much work, i decided to pickup the 1 gallon brew kit. This was the first Abbey style I've brewed and was a bit skeptical of the quality for this type of beer from a pre-boxed kit, but i have really enjoyed the taste of this. It's strong in alcohol, yet the taste is light and not overly bitter or yeasty. Definitely recommend. *Read the instructions: they mentioned the beer may ferment actively because of its high alcohol content. A day or so into the fermentation process I heard a funny whistling sound from the closet, and lo and behold it has shot through the air lock, down the sides of the jug, and onto the carpet.Also, just mentioning...this is an ingredient kit only; there is a separate kit with the equipment (1 Gallon jug, capper, etc.)

It was missing ingredients. Two packs of 3g Columbus hops were supposed to come with it and only one was in the box. The box had a loose piece of paper in it that said “inspection number 12†but there were two of those. Was it inspected twice? If so, that’s even worse. There is no number to call if it’s missing ingredients. Next time I’ll spend a few dollars more and buy Midwest, Craft Brew, or Northeast brew kits.

This kit reminds me of Abita's Wrought-iron IPA. Give it about 6 weeks in the bottle to reach its best flavor profile. It's my first imperial IPA. I will definitely brew again. It's got a kick too. I didn't take a avb. I will next time.

Although promising, with the right ingredients on the list, this kit was a failure for me. The sequence of steps to follow is far from being clear and because of that, I think, I had to throw advertising out. I'm moving back to the previous seller.

Package did not include the pineapple flavoring. Very disappointing, as this was a gift and the whole reason I got the pineapple flavour kit.
