Ordered this for myself to scratch that itch of what I call kindergarten percussion. It's adult enough to be a fun fidget item while watching TV or just clearing your mind and focusing on a pleasurable simple task. For the kids, it's great in that it can keep their attention and teach them something, or who knows it could be a good and less expensive way to see if they've got a passion for music. The build quality is fine / mixed. The base is a very light wood which is sort of nice, the downside to me was the plastic mallets, especially because the handles often become a little curved making it a little less precise of an action. Hopefully you weren't planning to use this at first chair in the orchestra though. It's fun, introductory instruments are fun for all ages even if just to fidget or romp through childhood memories and melodies.

I got this xylophone for something different to do, in my spare time. It seems good enough, for the price. When I play the scale, the F key sounds off, going forward, but when I played them in reverse, it sounded alright to me. I have no idea why that was. Anyhow, I have been enjoying playing around on it. It is good to have something interesting to do, when one is retired. Seems well-made.
