It's brass and it's relatively sharp, and I didn't really expect it to be either of those things for the price. There were no nicks in the blade like the previous review and with a quick sharpening, it works very well.

Making an electric guitar, giving it an arched top. Tool worked great, needed a little deburring on the brass edges, no biggie

I went on vacation for Christmas. My Son Inlaw asked if I would fix a broken preamp he had in his acoustic. Ordered a replacement and this Thumb planner and replace it in a few hours.

It was as described, except it terrible condition. It was packed loosely with the blade loose. Dents and scratches all over it. And the blade was all rusty and chipped.

Great little tool. If you need to remove some wood but in a controlled small scale it’s awesome. I’ve rounded doors and shaved edges off trim with it… very versatile in a small footprint.

Nice little plane. Blade is fine with no chips. Of course it needs to be sharpened like any other wood tool, now and prob every time I use it. That's not a compaint, that's just the way it is. It's going to be a B to sharpen because of the curved blade. I'll prob soften the edges of the base so there is less chance of gouging the work. One odd thing is the pictures. The blade barely extends from the body when in position.

Nice little plane but the brass casting is very rough and needs to be filed smooth. The blade was dull and very chipped but it flattened and sharpened okay. I use this little plane as a pencil sharpener for long points.
