Please be advised that this is not a ceramic product, but made of white enamelware. However, its very nicely finished and does the job. The bamboo lid looks snug and the attached knife has a ceramic handle.It's stronger than ceramic (I broke 2 ceramic butter dishes already, hence this purchase). The only downside I can see is that I cannot pop this into the microwave any longer to melt/soften the butter.

I bought this primarily for the container and that part of it is good. It fits wider butters like the European ones and Kerrygold and keeps them fresh which is what I was looking for. I liked the design and the added butter knife as well, but it's not great for cutting or spreading butter. Every time you spread it on something, butter is going to push out to the other side of the holes in the knife, with warm or cold butter. It also just sits loosely in the slot on the lid so it will fall out if you turn it over or anything. I stuck it in the drawer and it won't likely be leaving anytime soon. Not a huge deal since I mostly wanted the dish, but you might care about it more than me.

Love this butter dish, originally thought it was a ceramic base but it's porcelain covered metal. The most important part was the top which had a seal to keep it fresh. Perfect for my needs and looks nice on the counter.

This is a great Butter dish with butter knife. The knife has some neat decorative possibilities that it can create with the butter. The container keeps an excellent seal, providing you don't use butter that is larger than 2" in height. That is my only complaint. I wish that I had reviewed the product better before purchasing. However there are dozens and dozens of butter brands that will work with this dish perfectly. Score: 9:8 out of 10.

Butterdish feels different today because it is a kinda throwback to a vintage era but very convenient. it is enamel with a board cover which can be used as a little bread board to butter bread or cut butter or cheese.
