I bought this carrier for camping as a place to put my fishing reels. The carrier is really solid and well-built, but I can't find a short section of PVC pipe. Lowe's, Home Depot, and local hardware stores don't carry 8 inch pipe. I went to a plumbing supply store and all they had were very long 20 ft. pipes for over $250, when all I need is a 6 ft. section. I'll probably end up selling it because it's more trouble than it's worth. Great product, but check around to see if you can find the PVC before buying.

Haven't had any issues. I like being able to lock it as electrical pipe has gone up 700%. Originally bought the 8" but that one is massive and the pipe is a ridiculous price. 52$ at Lowes for 6" x 10' pvc. Four stars because you have to drill your own holes and provide the mounting hardware to the pvc. Luckily I have a rivet gun. But the saddles and everything else are great.

Common sense to either bolt or tap screw with a sealant, and to place hinge pin horizontally/parallel to ground, and to use something like a lock through lid latch hole. Otherwise don’t be surprised it slips off as it would be expected to do. Used on schedule 40 foam core low psi 8†sewer pipe contractor/industrial grade and fit snug from package. All hardware supplied for complete install, packaged well. Will pit corrode with salt air but expected result so apply finish/coating before exposure to elements. Hardware brackets, etc plenty long to straddle Thule large oval ladder rack brackets

I really thought this was going to be a home run. I run a plumbing company and was looking for a solution to store extra pipe on my pipe rack. I've seen some 4" pipe and 6" pipe on some other guy's vans or trailers, but I thought the 8" would allow me to add much more pipe.The caps looked sturdy and it was straight forward to install. Saw a videoo online where a guy painted his and I thought that woudl make it look much better, which it did.A few days ago, I noticed the lid was just hanging loose. The pin that holds the lid had apparently fallen out. I actaully have only opened the lid twice in the month or so that I have had it. Thank God I had a lock on the provided holes or I may have lost the damn lid. Come on! I paid $88.55 for two ends and some pipe supports and the lid falls off? Very surprised. What the hell am I suppsed to do now? I quess, I'll put some lag bolt in it, but that will make it look like southern engineering. I'm very unsatisfied.Fail.

Okay, this setup is awesome BUT it might be hard to find 8 inch PVC at the length you want. I wanted a 12 foot tube but I could only find 10 foot sections of 8 inch PVC. There was a place selling 20 foot sections but I would have had to deal with the extra 8 foot section, and at 30 dollars a foot, no thanks.So the takeaway? It worked out for me but make sure you can acquire the PVC you need before buying this.

The kit does not fit a 8" PVC or ABS pipe properly. The I.D. Of the caps are approx. 1/4" too large ( 8 5/8" )The kit is well constructed though !
