I've had this for several months now and use it regularly in my small shop. It replaced a very fine machine that was too loud for my neighbors. The quality is outstanding. I don't have a decibel meter, but I believe the stated claim. You can stand right next to this thing while it's running and have a normal conversation. The CFM is more than adequate for most general use. It isn't going to keep up with a sandblaster or equivalent. I was a little concerned about going from a 25 gallon tank to a 10 gallon tank, but it's been fine for my use.I don't have to tell you that you're unlikely to find a more expensive compressor of comparable capacity. But I will say that it's worth the price. Compressors don't have to be deafening. Stop putting up with that lie and just write the check. The pain from doing that won't last long.

This compressor is super quiet. However, the workmanship is below average. A few screws were bouncing around when I received it. I was able to find where they went. One was stripped out. I also found a loose electrical terminal, but couldn't find where it belonged. Most of the screws holding the case together were loose, which made the whole thing rattle when running.

I've owned and used this "Ultra Quiet," fully loaded enclosed air compressor for two years. I use it sparingly in my shop for my small business. It is very quiet and seemed to meet my needs very well. For the first year. Then, the problems started with the motor/pump. Essentially, the motor in the pump started shutting off mid-way through refilling the tank. I called California Air Tools to try to troubleshoot the issue and (when I was finally able to get someone on the phone) all they would tell me is that, since the unit is past the 12 month warranty period, I was SOL and need to figure it out on my own. After hours of troubleshooting it turns out that the 2HP motor in the pumps is inherently defective. There are numerous complaints and videos online about the issues people are having with the motors. It turns out that the motor in my pump had a bad thermal overload and would shut the motor down randomly even though the motor was nowhere near overheating. Worse still, the overload switch is built into the motor windings and cannot be replaced. The motor was unusable despite it being in almost new condition. And California Air Tools just blew me off! if you're able to get someone on the phone, good luck. They won't support your unit after just 12 months! Unbelievable! I'll be damned if I'm gonna' give CA Air Tools another $450 for another piece of Chinese-made garbage just to end up with the same problem.I ended up replacing the motor/pump unit with a quality American made unit of similar size and noise level (made by GAST Manufacturing) at considerable cost just to salvage the use/utility of the rest of the sound dampening enclosure with all the upgrades.I caution anyone from purchasing any of the California Air Tools compressors with the 2 HP motor/pump units. They are garbage.EDIT: Well, after about five years of using this compressor off and on for client projects I can say my opinion remains the same. I have had to replace pretty much every critical component in the cabinet because of the embarrassingly crappy Chinese components. I've now replaced the motor/pump (defective thermal switch in the motor windings), the main pressure switch (broken pressure adjusting shaft), the auto drain valve assembly (defective board-won't close valve), the main supply hose (burst), the water separator (leaks) and the air dryer assembly (awful design–can't remove/replace [especially] desiccant without removing entirely from cabinet in order to turn on its side, and no easy way to tell when desiccant needs changing).I've ended up spending more than I would have if I had purchased a top quality unit from the start.Worst purchase I've ever made for my shop.

Incredibly quiet. Came off the pallet ready to plug in and run. Air flow seems to match up with listed specs. Casters make it simple to move this unit between work stations.

I’m using this on my CNC mill in my garage. Works great and they weren’t kidding, it’s easy to have a conversation over. But every 45 seconds or so, it will BLAST out a short burst of air that sounds like a gunshot. Extremely loud and almost negates the whole point of sound proof cabinet.

It’s pretty nice, but extremely loud when the auto drain opens up. What’s the use of making an expensive quiet compressor, when every time it kicks on you jump out of your skin from the loud blast. Why in the world doesn’t this thing come with a $3 pneumatic drain muffler?

My first California Air Tools compressor was great, which is why I bought this one. It is extremely quiet and is worth it from that standpoint. Unfortunately, even with regular drainage during use, the tank rusts extremely quickly. It does not appear to be built out of quality materials.Customer service from California Air Tools has been horrendous, to say the least. I was charged a restocking fee for being sent the incorrect replacement part even after their customer service confirmed on the phone AND by email that it was the correct part and would fit. I will not be doing any more business with this company.
