Review of the CAMMHD YX1-64G 2K/1440P Body CameraI recently had the opportunity to test the CAMMHD YX1-64G body camera, and I must say, it has some compelling features that would appeal to both law enforcement and personal safety enthusiasts. Priced reasonably for the specs it offers, this body camera presents a robust option for those looking for reliable video and audio recording capabilities.Video Quality and Performance The YX1 boasts 2K HD video resolution, which is one of its standout features. The Mstar chip does indeed enhance clarity, capturing important details in a scene effectively. The inclusion of a 2.0-inch LCD screen is a thoughtful addition that allows you to preview footage and playback recordings directly from the device. In theory, this should make video management much easier, but I did experience a few instances of buffering that detracted from the overall usability.Night Vision Capability The dual night vision modes—Auto and Manual—are a solid feature, especially for those requiring performance in low-light conditions. The infrared lamp beads certainly improve visibility in the dark, and the handy LED light doubles as a portable night light, making it quite versatile for nighttime duties. However, I found that the transition to night vision could be a bit slow at times, which could be crucial in some scenarios.Battery Life One of the highlights of the YX1 is its impressive 3500mAh battery, which supports continuous recording for over 12 hours. This is particularly beneficial for long shifts or extended use without the need for frequent recharging. The Type-C charging interface is modern and efficient, and it's great that a charger is included with the purchase.Safety and Data Security The safety features of the YX1 are commendable. The rounded corner design helps protect the device from damage during falls, which is essential for a device used in dynamic environments. I also appreciate the automatic generation of usage records with timestamps. The password protection feature is a crucial addition that ensures sensitive data remains secure from unauthorized access.User Friendliness and Accessories In terms of user-friendliness, the YX1 could be improved. While it comes with multiple accessories, including clips and a Type-C data cable, the overall design feels a bit bulky, which might hinder portability. Additionally, setting up could require a bit of a learning curve for some users, especially those unfamiliar with similar devices. Conclusion Overall, the CAMMHD YX1-64G body camera presents a solid combination of features tailored for both police and personal use. Its high video quality, long battery life, and safety features make it an appealing option, despite some performance hiccups like buffering and size considerations. If you're in the market for a body camera that balances functionality and security, the YX1 could be worth considering, but be aware of its limitations.

I plugged it in with the charging cable that came with the body cam and it short-circuited and fried. Never got to use the body cam at all. I could see and smell the smoke coming from the device, unplugged it as fast as I could but too late, the device was destroyed. This appears to be a manufacture defect.

Buffering staggers and stutters….I may return it yet.

Let me say right away that the screen was nice, the shape of it is more contoured than most body cams, and it was a nice change. That being said, I don't like the short clips that come with these cameras. They're hard to get off, especially when you have large hands and fingers. The long clip is worthless when you want to hang the camera on a magnet mount on the front of your shirt. As for the camera itself, I like how it recorded, I liked the quality of the videos and pictures, but I found the speaker to be very tinty when I reviewed my recorded videos. What I mean is that it almost sounded like the speaker was blown, like a bad car speaker. My biggest issue was the one touch recording. Although this is a handy feature which I liked, the location of the record button being on the bottom of the camera is what killed it for me. I had my co-worker on the golf cart with me, doing patrols, and little did I know that I hit the record button, by accident. This resulted in 25 minutes of recording without even knowing it, and by the time I saw it was recording, the battery was 3/4 dead. If the record button was in front of the camera, this would not have happened. You can't adjust the volume when reviewing a video, which isn't ideal for me. Also, the battery being 3500mAh is fine, but the problem with that is, when you're on duty for 8 hours and you need to record a few times on your shift, you have to drop the quality of recording from 1440 to half of that at 720 for the battery to last the full 8 hours. I also wished that when you pushed record that the camera would vibrate more to let you know it was recording. The battery life claims on all body cams are always over exaggerated, as it depends on what settings you have on or off that dictate the life of the camera. All in all, the camera was OK, but the minor things tend to matter a lot when you're a security guard.
