I camp a lot and decided to investigate making Cowboy Coffee. Watched Kent Rollins’ 14 min. video about it and now I, too, am making the smoothest cup of coffee around! I quit using the filter and just boil the coffee like ol’ Kent does and I have to say I am pretty impressed with the results. That method of pouring cold water into the pot around edges at the end was entirely counterintuitive but, WHOwee! I am SOLD on that old school method and this pot delivers every time. Cowboy Coffee! Check it out!Oh, yeah, and the hinge/catch thing for the lid is annoying. It could be greatly improved. It’s a flimsy piece of metal that barely holds the lid to the pot. Most times I’ve learned to just do without it and use the lid only when the coffee’s done and I want to keep it warm.

I just received my order so have not yet used the percolator but know that making good coffee in it will take some practice and experimentation to get it just right. I have watched several YouTube videos and found them very helpful so am excited to get started. As for the pot itself, it is a decent weight and I love the huge flat bottom to help stabilize it over the stovetop burner during cooking The metal pieces inside are very, very lightweight which concerns me but gentle care and cleaning should hopefully make them last a long time. I did not like the metal clasp holding the top onto the pot but the metal wide part over the handle bends very easily to slip off. I was able to wedge an ice pick into the other piece and ever so GENTLY, managed to slowly nudge that part off as well. The blue shiny enamel is so pretty and I love the glass topper. I leave the pot out on my stove all of the time. Will I be doing away with my electric drip coffee maker or coffee pods coffee maker? No. This is simply a wonderful new addition to my kitchen. A special treat when I have the time to percolate, a little nostalgia and a LOT of aroma that you cannot get any other way.

I bought this for making coffee for camping. I absolutely love it. The flame residue is easy to wash off so it looks brand new for the next camp trip.

One thing that didn't quite work, was the inside of the coffee pot. The lid didn't fit tight over the coffee, so it would be loose and the coffee grounds would get into the coffee. We have to use the the insides of another coffee pot.

There’s a lot not to like. It’s very cheaply made. The lid fit is poor. There’s bare un enameled metal in places. The coffee basket and percolator tube is the worst part. The tube came bent and the percolator tube’s base is so weak and thin, I’m not even sure if it will support a load of coffee. It also rocks on a level surface. On the bright side ,so far, it will hold water. Pass on this one. If it can brew coffee, I’ll keep it with hopes of finding a suitable basket and tube.I’ll never buy from this one again. One day later:After saying all that and noticing that the bottom edges are pretty rough and that there was flaking enamel around the percolator glass knob, if you can bend the percolator tube and basket in to shape without breaking it, it brews a pretty good cup of coffee. One week later:The enamel around the edge of the base is flaking off and it’s leaking. Returning it. Total junk.

Reminds me of my grandmother, she always had a good pot of coffee on the stove, I use it at home and camping, but it's the memories that I really enjoy, coffee is pretty good too..

The part that allows the basket of coffee to stand inside the pot is very flimsy. Actually bolted it into place. No issue now. Also, percolator works best when in direct Flame.
