I use these trimmers to trim the wicks for my oil lamps and beeswax candles. They have a good angle for reaching into the lamps and trimming the wicks. The grip is pretty ergonomic. It also looks nice.

In the past when I've tried to trim the clumpy soot on a wick, I've hated it when the ash falls into the melted wax. This trimmer has a tray that catches the pieces of soot which I love. As other buyers have noted, the scissors stick a little and could be sharper. I also wish the plate that catches the ash wasn't so thick. You have to be very careful not to trim the wick too short which can easily happen due to the thick plate. Otherwise, it's a great little tool. I'm glad I bought it.

Some wicks it cuts right through, other wicks it literally just shreds the end of the wick and then I have to fix it with scissors after. Kind of annoying
