I just took this little camera on safari and it worked so much better than I had hoped. Autofocus is fast and sharp. Picture quality is pretty amazing for both stills and video. So easy to use. The battery was great. Only about 40% down after about 6 hours on constant on/off use. The camera auto-turns off nicely to save power. The zoom is excellent. Very compact and easily fits in a baggy pocket. The ONLY down side and it is small is that there is no lens cover so I just keep it in an old Crown Royal felt bag. A steal at this price.

This is an interesting little device and, for the price, I had to try it out. This will NOT replace any decent camera, but I find it serves to supplement gear that you may not have on hand in a pinch.Pros:- Affordable (relatively).- Small. Easily fits in a pocket, purse, or backpack. It's lightweight and won't weigh you down.- Can quickly take photos and video with a single click.- Uses a micro-sd card so you can download files directly to a device with a slot.- No batteries.- No need to adjust anything before shooting, just click the button.Cons:- Picture quality not that great. It does not pretend to be a DSLR, or even a decent point-and-shoot.- Menus are not intuitive at all. You will need to look up the instructions online. The functions are not complicated, but it just takes time to set things up the way you want and the process is kind of annoying.- No exterior screen to review photos. You must look into the viewer to review, or download to another device.- No ability to adjust anything (shutter speed, ISO, white balance, etc).- Uses Canon Connect software which I cannot for the life of me get to work on my phone. I wanted to just transfer all the files to my phone/tablet for review, but the app doesn't work so I have to use the micro-sd card.- No USB connection.- Proprietary charger. So, what is the purpose of this gadget? I have used it in the rain to photograph a bird for ID purposes as it saved me from ruining my expensive camera in the bad weather. The photos are definitely nowhere near the quality I would have had from my camera, but the photos were useful for posting to eBird and iNaturalist. This has been my primary use for this device. I can use it to zoom and quickly ID something before deciding to get my "real" gear out. It's also convenient for iNaturalist because I can take a quick photo and - if the Canon Connect software is working - post the photo on that app. This device is not for everyone, but if you are looking for a no-frills, inexpensive photographic device that is easily carried in a pocket or packed in a bag, it can be convenient to have on hand.

I like this canon camera / digital monocular. It's tiny for an adult size average build male but still usable! It doesn't have a lot of tiny buttons. One easy small button for shutter, half way down to focus then all the way down to capture the image (take picture). Love the clear easy to follow instructions on paper or online. The grammar, punctuation, spelling and accuracy of information in the physical book was uncommonly wonderful! Thank you canon. No I have not been compensated in anyway. This my true honest review.I will update this review with the image capture quality.

It failed to work after the second charge. Never even got to take it out in the field for birding. The 5 photos I took in my backyard were trying it out. The zoom is equivalent to that of my iPhone 15pro max so it’s not really worth carrying something else around for sub par identification pictures. For the price, I am half way home to the canon powershot sx740 so might as well have a much better quality pocket sized camera with a farther reach than this monocular that had a hard to see view finder. I really wanted it to work better because it was small and easy to carry. But easy to carry doesn’t put bird photos in my life list if it doesn’t power on now does it.

i really wanted to love this product. i have no movement in my left hand and fingers due to a stroke, so the concept was just what i needed, but sadly itneeds some improvements before it works for me. the pocket size design is great, but the button placements are awkward when holding it, it might be better to increase the size a bit to improve the usability, such as the ability to hold it and manipulate the buttons. the Bluetooth connection to the phone app needs some improvement as it does not stay connected. with those improvements it would be a groundbreaking product, i would recommend buying the current product to see if it works for your purpose, i am hoping that the next generation improves upon this concept, retains the good size aspects and improves in the areas outlined above. i really hope canon sticks with the concept and improves the design usability aspects. update after testing many other similar products, i can honestly say this stands alone in what it can do, even with the limitations, i still hope canon reads the many great reviews and makes some improvements in the next generation of this groundbreaking product based upon user feedback. i would be willing to pay more with improvements, perhaps two versions could be available at different price points.

This is a digital zoom from what I can tell, so I would say it's grainy, but it seems to have some image stabilization. Takes a decent picture. An equivalent optical zoom would not fit in my pants pocket.
