I use the Canopus Bolt Tight leather washers top and bottom with a Canopus chrome over brass washer sandwiched between them for smooth tuning turns & stability on my Slingerland Radio King Snare Drum. Highly recommend ðŸ‘

They really do work like they advertise. Snare sounds cleaner. Not as many unwanted overtones, but still plenty of tone and some nice ring from the shell.

I purchased a set of these and tried them the way Canopus recommends them; which is, a leather washer then a metal washer and then aother leather washer. I see how they do lock the tension rod in place because the leather top and bottom holds it there. However, it is a bit more effort to tune the drum as the leather does not glide the tension rod easily. You need some force here. I then tried the bolt tight another way, which was place the leather washer on top over my nylon washer and that helped a bit with the ease of tuning the tension rod. Overall, I would say these are a set-it/forget-it tool for a nights gig. Now, drum heads stretch out as you play them and today's tuning may not be exactly be what you want next week. So retuning is needed along the way, as I expected. Aesthetically they do look cool ( I am using the red version over a yellow 3mm thick nylon washer), so you can go with something like this. These are cool, but just know you are going to use more force to key turn those tension rods, cause leather does hold them from loosening.
